If the D continues to suck, Smith will be fired, guaranteed.

I don't see it. I don't see the Glazers firing DK midseason. And if DK doesn't make the playoffs he's probably out anyways. If he does he and his staff are pretty safe. So it makes no sense for DK to fire Smith. Lovie was fired because he refused to fire Leslie.

I know we all want our defensive line to make sacks and quarterback pressures, can I throw something in I consider important? Howz about making tackles, or is that asking to much?

I made a comment somewhere recently about momentum. You can see even bad teams at times have great momentum on defense - all through out the league. I hope ours learns how to do it

Can I see us sack Matt Ryan 8 times? And Bootz askus's me why I always want a blowout for our team - really???

For the fans? Yes. For the players, no. After the lack of effort in Chicago they should have had to wear it all week and not get a week away.

1 - Fire defensive coordinator Mike Smith
Reaction. It's not going to happen, and if it were to happen during the season it should have happened by now. But from a practical standpoint, it is impossible to play worse than we have played outside that on 5 game fluke two years ago, so we have nothing to lose. It doesn't take that long to field at least a competent defense either and every team has holes, but gets more out of their players than we do - and we have a lot of talent.

2 - Those big plays to DeSean Jackson? Don’t count on them any more
Reaction. This is 100% based on Winston's demonstrated inability to hit a deep pass. If that changes, then we will get those deep balls. Duece talked about "unless we return to week 1 & 2 pass protection levels". I fully expect to see us return to about that. Teams know we can't run now, so there will be a lot more pressure packages, but in week three Jensen was sick, and in week 4 we played an excellent defense. So I expect better than week 3 and 4.

3 - Get Ronald Jones ready to start
Reaction. Barber is Robin, not Batman he is better at getting a couple of yards with weak blocking than JJones, but has no true homerun ability. Our OL run blocking is inconsistent, but when we do open a good hole, Barber can't really leverage that. Get Rojo some work and when that hole opens he can make the big play and that will force teams to respect the run more than Barber running for 1 or two yard a carry all game.

4 - Brent Grimes is done
Reaction. We knew the cliff was coming for him and based on his play so far, it looks like it has. It is entirely possible he turns it around, but so far the tape justifies this reaction. Plus, it's not as bad as we think. Smith actually looks like he might have figured it out, and Davis looks legit. Stewart is the weak link back there right now.

Anyone who believes the only way Desean Jackson makes big plays is deep passes down the field has never seen him play or is an idiot. Bottomline.

Or....is only considering his time in TB with the Qb who will (most likely) be the only QB who throws him the ball the rest of his TB career.

I would not be shocked if DJ does not catch a ball that travels more than 20 yards in the air ever again on this team.

What are your terms?

Mine are - If DJ does not catch a pass that travels more than 20 yards in the air from JW during his TB tenure, you may never use any nicknames ever again...no k!ddo, no babygirl, ...no nothing.

Sounds like a story from OTA's, about how things were going to be better this year because we were involving players input in installing the defense. Or how we got better in 2016 because we started asking players what they thought was going wrong. I'll buy it when it works for more than a few games this time.

I was just about to say they did that in 2016 when such a big deal was made about them simplifying the defense so the players could get it.

That’s basically what we saw against the Eagles this year. A lot of yards but Only gave up 21 points, made them punt 5 times, twice turned over on downs, 2 fumbles.

I think that kind of dialogue with your captains is invaluable. You learn things you otherwise wouldn't know. I do this every week with my guys.

However, it's one thing to solicit feedback, and another thing to implement it. The former requires wisdom, the second requires humility.

We'll see how it plays out.

I was a fan of his coming out of Miami but he's been terrible. The kind of guy who would be cut with ZERO news story if he was anything other than a 1st round pick. He'd be a downgrade here. No thanks.

He looks like he's playing with 2 left feet out there. No kind of coordination or balance, he's big but he does not or cannot move what so ever. And he can rack up penalties as well. He's not even an average NFL player. He's simply bad.
