What exactly is Brate’s role in this offense going to be? This was my issue when we were discussing whether or not he’d be extended. OJ had almost twice as many snaps at 43. Hump and Godwin also outsnapped hm with 46 & 44 respectively. He also didn’t do much in the PS. Hopefully it doesn’t turn into a trend but we all pretty much knew OJ would take over eventually and that moment has seem to come already. That’s a lot of money for a backup TE.

Something I thought about when watching the game. Nothing against Brate, but we can't deny OJ is a beast out there and needs to be on the field. We also have 3-4 really good options at WR so it's not like we can go w/ two TE (12) personnel all game so Brate can get reps.

There is only 1 ball and on average 30 pass attempts/game to spread around.

I did see that Titans TE Delanie Walker go down with a season ending injury and the Titans GM is John Robinson, who was on the Bucs staff when we acquired Brate as an UDFA.

The Bucs re-signed Brate this offseason and gave him a $7m signing bonus that would count against our cap in 2018 ever if we traded him, but getting a possible day 2 pick and no dead money after this season might be worth atleast listening to.

I don't think the Bucs will be trading Brate, but it wouldn't be a surprise either. Like you stated, it's alot of money for a guy playing 24 snap and getting only a few targets. Especially when guys like Marpet, Kwon, and D. Smith need extension as well.

Brate is great :P insurance though and the Bucs could just as easily trade him in the offseason if they wanted, so an offer would really have to be too good to pass up to trade him in season.

It’s also one game into the season. I suspect Brates catches go up when jameis returns. They have a very good rapport.

Will his snaps go up though? 43 to 24 OJ out snapped him. And it wasn't as if we leaned towards running the ball either. Fitz dropped back 41 times. Also everyone else was productive with their snaps so who are you taking snaps from? Godwin? Hump? OJ??

Understand the value of getting to pick who you want to rest up, or heal up.

All 5 of those guys were productive with their opportunities as well. Evans, Djax, Godwin all scored. OJ had a couple of really big catches and Hump did his thing with his screens and nearly had another huge play if not for the penalty. Brate right now appears to be the 6th option in the passing game and is getting paid 3rd highest.

If not a trade midseason it's all but a guarantee that he'll be gone at the end of the year. His 2019 salary doesn't guarantee until the 5th day of the league year

Who could have possibly predicted that Brate would be phased out of our offense?!

He'll have bigger and better games than last week, though. It's entirely possible we'll see more 2 TE sets this week against the Eagles nasty defensive line.

Evans and Djax went a combined 12-12 for almost 300yd and 3TDs on their targets Sunday.

I'm not good at math, but that seems like a good catch ratio.

That's the definition of efficiency. And if you expand it, OJ was 2-2, Godwin was 3-4 and even Hump was 3-5. Very efficient day.

Yep! Lets strive for consistency now. If everybody is excelling like last week it wont matter who misses out on a few.

I'm sure Cheb and others will watch A22. But if they continue to play the way they played Sunday, Smith and Marpet will be pro bowlers at the very least Sunday. Maybe All-Pro.

This twitter page has a lot of clips of the offensive and defensive lines. The guy points out good plays for both teams. As discussed, the left side of the line looks to be a strength.

Blasphemy!! Donovan Smith is a bust, maybe we can move him to Guard to salvage his career. /sarcasm

That’s a great find. Thanks for sharing it. Jensen looks like he was worth the money and as Bootz stated Ali and Donovan are going to lock that left side up. The OL as a whole kept Fitz comfortable in the pocket. Good pressure by McCoy on several plays, but Brees gets that ball off so damn quick it didn’t matter.

I've re-watched the condensed version of the game a few times and I did see more of pass rush and opportunities to sack Brees than i thought watching it live. Brees slipped through our fingers a few times and was able to get the ball out.

Nice, I love those clips. Our d-line has a long way to go. Still looks like we are missing power.

Explains why, when were up 24 we arent able to grind them into dust. I think when our d-line gets better so will our D backfield.
Excellent job of holding the Saints to 43 yards rushing.

I'll take the win.

I've been calling for Marcus Williams for a long time now, mostly cuz he was free and made plays. I hope he can not look lost out there.

He is the player the Saints kept when they cut DeVante Harris, now on our IR. Take note we are talking the bottom of the Saints depth.

Not a huge knock as they are committed to many...
