***The OFFICIAL 2018 Tampa Bay Bucs Thread***

Postby DreadNaught » Wed Aug 22, 2018 11:14 am

The last day of training camp was today and since practice is over we have arrived!!!

First game is Sept 9th @ New Orleans with the Bucs still having to complete their final dress rehersal for the starters this Friday night in preseason game 3 at home vs the Lions before finishing up the following Thursday night Aug 30th in a game nobody that isn't related to the players cares about.

Go Bucs!!!

Depends on the news, if someone thinks news is threadworthy I think that is encouraged.

This thread is ideally for random generic news like injury updates, whose performing well, and other comments.

I just like having a catch all thread so that new thread isn't created for every little nugget of news.

About 10 minutes after kickoff on the 9th it'll be a catchall for ending the season, firing Koetter and Licht, and cutting everyone.

Fire Koetter thread will add 3 pages

Draft forum will have "With the first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select..." threads

And at least one "**** this team" meltdown.

I retract my support of MB’s clearly drug induced posting. General Fitzpatrick will lead our troops to victory.

we'll win 2 with Fitz

2-1 when jdubya starts

2-3 after the browns beat us and eat dubya's for sportcenter

then crabby should get his legs back under him and go on a run and we're 7-4 going into the stretch

those last 5 games we'll see if he's the real deal or complete implosion and heads start exploding around here.

That's, Major Fitzpatrick, sir. https://twitter.com/MajorRyanFitz

Speaking of the Major, he's been quiet since his last missive penned late on the evening of 18-Aug.

Plinko is broken. A system update is required but we don't have the loose change to spare.

Wait, what? What does the team do between now and Friday? And between Friday and next Thursday?

Just practice, but it's not considered "training camp"?

Correct. Not much different from a fan perspective I'll grant you. But now that "camp" is over the players are no longer staying in a local hotel and being shuttled to and from the facility. It's more of a regular season practice routine now.

Pretty much. They'll do regular game preparation ahead of the game next Thursday. Cuts on Friday, practice squad signings Saturday and resume practice Monday the 3rd to prepare for the Saints.

Could be nothing but according to Djax' last Instagram post he's going to be used as a punt returner this year. I wouldn't be opposed to it especially early on without Jameis and possibly D Smith. Short fields would really help a Fitz lead offense and even at 31 Djax is still one of the most dynamic playmakers in the league.

Agreed...

It's also a nice way to get him some touches given our WR/TE corps...only 1 ball to go around..

I’ve been saying this should happen. Hope to see it on the field. Been a while since we’ve had a returner who was a legit TD threat.

Let him be dynamic. WR is probably the one position where we could afford and injury to a starter. DJax also seems like the kinda guy that isn’t going to make dumb plays that will get him hurt. He’ll lay down, jump out of bounds, or go 70 yards in the blink of an eye.

One of my friends told me Ronald Jones was working with the ST for kickoffs today. Is that true?

The more touches for Djax the better, so if we can create 2-3 via punt return then great!!

Rojo is a backup, maybe 3rd string if he doesn't play well Friday. So seeing him on ST coverage teams isn't a surprise.

This should go in the good news thread! Sims gets his money and the fans don't have to watch him play.

Sims is on a 1-year deal so that'll probably do it for his career in Tampa. Let's take a minute and remember this guy made some splash plays during some shitty seasons.

Watching this makes me think about RoJo and what he could be if he develops the pass catching part of his game.

when the first play on your <3 minute career highlight reel is a rather pedestrian 23 yard screen...meh.

the dearth of talent over the past decade-and-a-half has required this team to hang on to marginal talent like sims, and explains why fans were forced to latch on to similarly talented players. being able to discuss his release without a lot of handwringing is a good sign.

Say what you want about Sims, his pass catching and pass protection will be missed. Especially his pass protection. None of our other backs excels in that aspect and in some cases they've been a major liability. Yea I'm looking at you Peyton Barber.
