The Ryan Griffin Era Begins

Postby Doctor » Sat Jun 23, 2018 5:38 pm

The moment that changed the Bucs franchise forever...

The Tampa Bay Times' Greg Auman believes Ryan Griffin has a "major opportunity" to pass Ryan Fitzpatrick on the depth chart and start for the Bucs during Jameis Winston's three-game suspension.

Griffin was impressing the coaching staff last summer but sprained his AC joint in his shoulder in the preseason opener, which handed the No. 2 job to Fitzpatrick. He returned late in the season to be Fitzpatrick's backup when Winston was hurt. Griffin, a 2013 UDFA, has never attempted a regular-season pass but spent his first couple years with Sean Payton and Drew Brees in New Orleans. Fitzpatrick is the heavy favorite to start Weeks 1-3, but Griffin will have plenty of opportunities to win over the staff in camp and preseason.

As I recall, he was giving Fitz a run for his money as the backup before he got injured last year.

The cream will rise to the top. I'm not holding my breath though.

If we're not going to play Griffin this season, then I have no clue why he's on the roster. He's 28, he's been in the system three years, and he costs 2x as much as an UFA.

To quote Marsellus Wallace, "You came close, but you never made it, and if you were gonna make it, you would have made it before now."

Because we need a back up QB when Jameis is missing games.

Best Randy Savage promo of all time.

Edit: Totally unrelated story time:

So back in the day when I used to listen to a ton of sports talk radio Randy Savage was still alive. Until one day I was leaving work and I get in my car and the first thing I hear is that the Macho Man has moved on to greener pastures. Naturally I drove directly to the head shop and bought a basic Zong! brand bong which I then named Macho Bong Randy Savage. I still have that bong today, seven years later.

I'm sorry then it can't be Macho bong Savage, maybe Billy bong Thornton or Stoned bong Steve Austin, although you'd have to put a skull on it for that at least.

Everytime I see a pic of the Macho Man, it makes me think of the Skyrim mod that turns all the dragons into Macho Man dragons, complete with the voice.
