It means we like Barber as RB1.

Confirms the RBBC. Jones compliments Barber really well. 38 is a bit rich for a change up back but whatever. Got some speed on offense.

Agreed.

It looks like we didn't think Oliver or Jackson were starting material.

Speed is the key word...been awhile since we someone who could take a handoff to the house..

But I agree, the pick seems out of order...

I really like Ronald Jones, guy is a baller but I'm concerned with his blitz pickup ability. I'd also like it if he were more of a receiving threat. But he's a talented player who gives our offense a new dynamic. Happy to have him.

I'll deal with it. We need more speed

I swear some of you will be satisfied if licht took another kicker. You will find some way to justify the pick

This was my pre combine report...

Easier to paste than retype

He's in the Cook/Charles mold. He's fast, shifty, can find the hole, but will be criticized for his size. I think he'll score similarly to Cook at the Combine. While he hasn't been as productive as a pass catcher, it's apparent he has the ability.

He needs work in picking up the blitz and I've witnessed on more than one occasion him giving up on running his route as a receiver.

I don't see the upright running style as a deal breaker, because he gets low and squares his shoulders as he goes through initial traffic, he just straightens upright to gain speed and tries to get skinny in the open field to allude tacklers(and holds the ball like a loaf of bread at times). This plus his size could mean he's more injury prone.

Overall I think he has a chance to be a Jamal Charles/what we saw from Cook due to his raw athleticism. Watching highlight reels make hims seem elite, but watching a game makes me a bit hesitant. He' can be too timid hitting the hole when running between the tackles. He has elite speed and explosiveness, but he'll plod his way through a hole and normally go down. He looks for a big opening before turning on the jets. Having patience is great, but there were more than a few times I've watched where he could have had a big play or even gained a few more yards by simply giving more effort between the tackles. Maybe this relates to him getting low, squaring his shoulders...maybe it's unnatural for him.

If we wanted Guice it would have made sense. But could we have gotten Jones later in the round?

Hoping for the best, but man Josh Jackson is a huge talent who filled a need.

Oh well hope Jones is great for us.

i love it, this dude is Jamaal Charles, and he has decent hands but he wasn't asked to be a pass catcher at usc, but he is good. Even with a small frame he is still better then Guice in pass protection and I think that is why they choose Jones over Guice. also this guy can fly, he doesn't try to do to much, one cut and go those are the guys that excel in the nfl. his frame is what everyone looks at but just try to arm tackle him and he will make you pay with his strong legs. for those that doubt him you'll love him soon enough

He's a good player, and most importantly he offers something to the team that we don't have; a legitimate rushing home run threat.

We have a thumper in Barber. Quizz ain't scaring anyone. As was recently said, Sims is good at everything except running the ball. Now we have a dynamic runner, a guy who averaged 6 ypc throughout his career behind offensive lines that weren't great. He can carry the load if you need it.

As a rookie, get him 15 touches a game. We don't need him to be a hero (thank God).

6 ypc? Behind so-so offensive lines? ****, I'm not complaining.

Jones will create explosive plays in the run game. Something the Bucs have terrible at.

From scout buddy at Tampa..

"Rb from USc. Buddy says terrible pick

205 runs to contact too
much, won’t hold up. Flake of a kid. Can’t catch, won’t play on 3rd

down. Has speed and big play ability but not real elusive"

Like the db selection
