Dotson: Knee Surgery

Postby Teitan » Sun Apr 15, 2018 5:15 pm

Dotson had knee surgery. Will miss OTAs and mini camp.

Thanks Teitan...

Just posted it in the Bucs offseason thread..

We should be a bit concerned...Dot isn't any spring chicken...AND we are thin as **** at OT... especially with Pamphile moving on (thought he played better at RT than LG)...

Belief is also that he'll be ready to go for TC. I don't care if a 10 year vet makes it to TC or not. Just be ready week 1.

I agree with the sentiment. Of all our players, he's probably the guy who needs TC the least.

That said, maybe we draft his future replacement sooner rather than later.

I've often wondered why players that need surgery don't do it immediately following the season instead of healing right up to training camp..
Is that one of the reasons possibly, to avoid offseason work?
I remember the uproar here in Charlotte when Cam had his offseason shoulder surgery in late March '17 to fix an injury he suffered late in the 2016 season. His waiting was the dumbest decision I've seen but it happens pretty often.

Exactly, and you've got to believe that's Dotson's take on it too. 4th year in Koetter's system. Not much more for him to learn. Probably got the survey now to miss OTAs. If not the case why not have the surgery 2 months ago? Same with Cam Newton last year.

Definitely remember reading a book written by Tim Green years ago where he talked about this very thing. Said guys would try and get their wives pregnant so they could miss TC when they were born.

More to that I'm worried about getting back into playing shape. OL tend to let themselves go more than most to start the offseason...

Dot is one of those rare OL who actually keeps himself in top shape.

With our overhauled interior line of Nelson-Jensen-Marpet that should help pick up any slack Dotson has.

Sure, just ask Leonard Wester in Dallas.

Dotson was our best OL last year. Heck he's been out best one for awhile and remains really under appreciated. With that said, yeah, that interior would be amazing for Dotson and Smith.
