Say the bucs did trade for the first overall

Say the bucs packaged the 7th and Winston for the first overall, putting aside judgement on the move itself, who would you hope they are picking?

New fans, cause it'd be the stupidest move we've made since drafting Bo after he said he'd never sign with us...

I'd still take Winston over all of those QBs...and obviously a RB. I'd bet Winston goes 1st in this draft.

Eh, Josh Rosen I guess. He's the best QB in this class imo.

Not sure why Barkley is on the poll. If we traded Winston and picks to jump to #1 only to select an RB...the war room post-pick scene would be everyone on the phone getting fired.

lmao setting aside the fact that everyone would be fired...I love the part where it takes Winston AND #7 to move up to #1.

I know this is a fantasy thread but just pointing out how insane that part is.

Bingo. I don't think Dr thought about how stupid the proposal really is. A 24 year old franchise QB, that is already extremely talented and has the potential to be one of the best ever is worth the 1st overall pick, the 4th overall pick the Browns 2nd round picks and Myles Garrett at the very least on paper. In reality you can't match the value for a Jameis Winston or Carson Wentz or Dak Prescott or any young franchise QB.

I said putting aside the move itself, the focus of the thread was simply if we had the #1 overall pick in this draft of great QBs and we had no QB, who would you pick.

I think Darnold is the best QB in the class. I really like Mayfield, I really really do. But enough to take a higher floor Darnold? I don't think so.

I would take Mayfield. I think he is going to have the best career by a decent bit.

Good Read

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2303 ... -prospects

History tells us the NFL is terrible at evaluating quarterbacks. Here's what it means for 2018.
Picking the right quarterback is the most important thing an NFL organization can do. The Browns famously didn't believe in Wentz and traded the second overall pick in 2016 to the Eagles, who did. The rest is history. You can basically get everything else wrong and still repeatedly make it to the playoffs with the right quarterback, as we saw in the first few years of Andrew Luck's career during Ryan Grigson's reign as general manager in Indianapolis. It is not hyperbole to suggest getting this decision right is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

And yet history tells us that the league will wrongly evaluate these prospects. Chances are that one or two of these five passers will turn into superstars, but it's unlikely that those one or two will be the first quarterbacks taken on draft night. Some fans are about to buy authentic team jerseys they'll quickly regret. Thousands of scouts spent tens of thousands of nights in hotels around America for decisions nobody will want to claim three years from now. We should be able to do better than this.

This may be the worst OP since the time I made a thread about the team needing longer cleats in 2005.

I have to agree.

With a decade or two of building up off-season tolerance to ridiculous threads I still got shocked from time to time.....
