Giants are apparently switching to a 3-4. Not sure Chubb fits either. But even still this doesnt change the fact that they are probably going QB at 2.

He had 8.5 sacks last year, just turned 29 on New Year's Day, so he potentially has another couple good seasons left.

I really like this addition for our defense. Curry on one side, JPP on the other, with McCoy and I guess Allen next to him. That's the best front-four on paper the Bucs have fielded since 2005. Not saying much, I know, but there is definitely promise in the defensive line now.

Ya this is insane. Guess the Chubb to 7 thing wasn't happening. Didn't give up a lot either.

JPP, Curry, Gholston, Spence... that's a nice quartet at DE.

We basically just gave up the 3rd and got a better 4th for a proven pass rusher.

With this move, the Bucs have acquired three Super Bowl Champions on the defensive line this off-season. All four have played in the Super Bowl (Unrein--Broncos--2013).

So the Bucs basically trade a 3rd rounder for JPP.

JPP is 29 and is under contract through the 2020 season (3 more years). However his cap charges are pretty high.

Curry-McCoy-Allen-JPP

Spence-Urine-Gholston

Not bad. Will interesting to see how this effects the cap and potentially re-signing guys like Marpet-Smith-Kwon.

Jamies' contratc still looming next year also.

The days of the Bucs being among the leaders in available cap space are over for the foreseeable future.

Pierre-Paul signed a 4-year/$62 million deal last March. Any idea if we need to cut someone loose or is our cap situation still in good shape?

Love this trade (obviously).

Anyone else all of a suddenly really okay with the idea of there being a QB on the board and trading down with the Bills.

Kind of pissed at first, then quickly realized that we most likely wouldn’t have gotten someone as productive in the 3rd round. Still has a few years left, as long as he continues to keep fireworks out of his good hand.

I think we keep the deal he's on. It's actually a great deal from a pure term perspective. We get JPPs age 29, 30, and 31 years.

If he were a FA he'd have gotten huge money, with huge guarantees, and huge term.

We went in to this offseason completely desperate on the DL. Now, if everyone was to stay healthy, we have a promising DL on paper.

Value was good. Position of need. Proven pass rusher.

Great trade. Anyone who says it isn't is the type of person that just loves draft picks because of the unknown.

I can see Gholston being a casualty of this trade

We aren't pigeonholed at 7 anymore.

I think I'm fully aboard the Denzel Ward train now- with an RB in round 2.

Better yet, trade back with MIA/BUF/ARI. Get at least a 3rd back and still have a player like Ward, James, Vea, Fitz on the board.

His salary became guaranteed on Sunday. It's just $6.5mil also so There's no reason to move on.

We're still in good shape cap wise.

THIS was a damn nice deal...

I take back 37% of my "**** Licht" posts...

It also opens up the door of trading back and or taking DB on defense...not a ton, but it's cracked now imo..

Gholston still has a role on this team, JPP doesn't take away from his role- though it does make him much more of a rotational guy now than a "starter".
