Welcome Chandler Catanzaro!

Postby Nano » Wed Mar 14, 2018 4:02 pm

Greg Auman @gregauman
I'm hearing that Bucs are signing former Cardinals and Jets kicker Chandler Catanzaro. Went 25/30 on FGs, 29/29 on PATs last year in New York.

Time to rev up the kicking competition again!

They wanted him last year but he was still recovering from that injury.

3yrs $9.75m, $3.75m guaranteed

Looks to be pretty consistent (career 84.4%). Still young (27).

Still can't believe we traded up to draft a kicker in round 2 a couple years ago. Dudes like Catanzaro are available every off season.

We didn’t trade up to draft a kicker in the 2nd round. You must be mistaking us for another team.

The fact that we find ourselves here again is the very reason that was done. Either way, water under the bridge. Let's do this dance again, may the best man win.

Looks to be slightly more accurate than Murray and a bigger leg (long is 60, and made a 57 last season). Perfect on PATs 29/29

It's not a competition.

3yrs - 9.75m, 3.75m guaranteed.

He's our kicker.

Oh wow. Didn't see that coming. I still think they'll take two kickers to camp. With that said Murray did leave a whole lot to be desired on kick offs.

The thing I look at with kickers is their accuracy from 30-49. They should hit almost everything from inside 30. Over 50 is gravy. They have to be consistent in the 30-49 range.

Catanzaro for his career is 65-77, or 84.4%. That's a really solid percentage on those kicks. It's actually identical to what Matt Bryant has done in his career. I'm cautiously optimistic. But like DN said, unless he goes Aguayo in camp, this isn't a competition. Murray is now a camp leg.

Murray isn't a camp leg. He's a free agent.

Thought he was an ERFA. Okay. Well, camp leg to come. This guy is the guy.

It was a bad call because Aguayo failed. You don't hear people cryijng about the Lions taking Hanson in the second, or how about Janikowski going 17th overall. Let this dead horse rest.

I'll let it go when Licht is either fired or raises the Lombardi. If you're going to play the, "Look how much smarter I am than conventional wisdom!" game, you deserve to get dowsed in salt when you get burned.

Cool, a kicker from the Jets. What could go wrong?
