@JasonLaCanfora
Bucs are keeping TE Cam Brate. The redzone target has a new 6 year deal in Tampa

Edit: 6 years, 41 mil, 18 mil GTD

A ton of people around here felt that we would not pay him and let him walk after next season.

I feel like it was only me and a couple of others that thought he was here for the long term.

I didn’t think we’d pay him. Happy we did #weaponsforwinston. Will be interesting to see how he and OJ coexist

I don't like it because I think his presence will hamper OJ's development as a receiver. Plus I think it's way too much money for the player Brate is.

That said, he's a good player and Winston likes to throw the ball to him so I won't complain too much.

He's earned every penny. Question if he's worth it if you want to, but being an undrafted, practice squad guy to getting a 6 year deal? He earned that.

With another 4 years before we have to pay OJ, these guys will both be in their prime together. Along with Mike Evans. Long term weapons. Great stuff.

We will roll with OJ Howard and Auclair, who the team loves and many fans here loved as well. Brate was developed here so it's quite possible Auclair can be too. And while I have my questions about OJ Howard there's no question that his ceiling is way about Cam Brate. He's made plays Brate can only dream of.

WOW he signed cheap. I was part of the "I'd love to keep him but would be alright if he walked" crowd and am very pleased with this deal. Most were eyeballing a 8-10M marketing for him. While I don't know the exact structure his current deal averages $6.8M a year, that's a steal for Brate. I love every inch of this signing.

Great move by Licht. Even with OJ here Brate is a weapon Winston loves. He is a dependable red zone target and money in the 15-25 yard range. $6.8M APY is good value as long as he is a part of the game plan.

This. Cam signed a SUPER team friendly deal here, and that's why we locked him up for 6 years. Only 18 million guaranteed, and Florio reported that $4.5M is tied to catches/TDs/Pro Bowl incentives. I assume that must be $4.5M total because if that's per year the math works out a little fuzzy and would be too good to be true.

With Howard on his rookie contract for 4 more years we'll be in great shape as far as talent to resources allocated, and won't have to make any major decisions until their roles become very well defined in this offense.

So he's actually a little over $4M per year plus escalators?

Interesting.

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

This is a great deal for all the reasons mentioned here. Cost isn’t extreme, balances well with Howard’s rookie deal, weapon for winston, etc.

Mike Greenberg is da real MVP!!

This is a really team friendly deal. I love it. I honestly didn't think we'd lock up Brate longterm, but am glad we did.

Nice work Light. We will have a deep and talented TE Corp for the foreseeable future. Brate and Howard make a hell if a 1-2 and Auclair is an interesting piece to have as depth. Barring injury, we won't have to worry about this unit for years.

Pretty surprised we got this done, but happy it did. Figured with Howard in the fold, Brate might be looking to be the man somewhere else while the Bucs would be hesitant to invest too heavily in a 2nd TE.

Personally I'm a fan of of 12 personnel for the run/pass conflict it creates when both your TEs are receiving weapons.

The only real downside to this is barring injury, looks like another year of limited touches for Godwin. But ridiculously good depth at WR and TE is a good thing.

As the poster who started the longstanding "Do we re-sign Brate" debate (lol) .... this is thrilling news to me. I didn't expect us to keep him beyond this next season tbh. But I'm thrilled. It's a pretty decent value deal as well. Jameis obviously loves looking his way in the red zone and on third down. Even though I know a lot of people are high on Auclair, just imagine if OJ Howard got hurt longterm how screwed we'd be without Brate.

Hopefully either Koetter & his offensive staff figure out how to best utilize dual-TE sets. That is, by far, our biggest strength. With Brate, Howard, Evans & Godwin here for the next few seasons, that's a strong base to build around offensively. Figure out the run game & better pass protection, and it's all up to Winston on how great this offense will be.
