My mind blanked as I posted, but Rick Stroud has reported it.

No surprise. Had two of the best seasons by a RB in franchise history, mixed in with four of the most disappointing. New face at RB around the corner. As much as I like Barber I think someone else of note will come in to take the starting spot.

He was mom's favorite player. She only saw him in 2015 and part of 2016.

I put "per my dealer" in an attempt at a little humour as I googled for a reputable source.

So right now our backfield consists of Peyton Barber and Jacquizz Rodgers... though I'd re-sign Sims for cheap if I could.

Nah Sims may be out to. For a player that does what Sims does I rather just sign Dion Lewis. Or lets bring back LeGarrette Blount!

Thanks for everything you did Doug, but this was an easy call. Should’ve happened last year.

It'd make more sense to just keep Sims on the cheap like RBF said. No guarantee we'd get Lewis, especially if New England wants him back, or Blount if Philly wants him back.

Sims would be my last option, I guess I should have said that. I think by cutting Martin it is clear a RB will be a priority this offseason. So I do not see sims returning.

Sims is solid in his role. Cutting Martin wouldn't have an impact on Sims. Martin's salary outweighs his production. Along with the other issues he's faced over the past few years(drug suspension, team rules violation, age) his release came as a surprise to no one.

Bucs did him a solid by releasing him early before FA hits, same as the Raiders did with Amerson.

Martin can now get an early start on FA.

Word from Stroud is that Chris Baker is next and it will happen before the combine next week.

That would make McCoy the only DT left under contract. So as much as we talk about EDGE rushers in the draft talk, I think DT needs equal attention since we are definitely thinner at that DT than we are DE.

Ayers and Gholston both have contracts the Bucs could move away from without any dead cap penalty, but that would be quite the overhaul for a the Dline if only McCoy and Noah Spence returned (I don't count camp meat like Ryan Russell or Will Clarke that made the roster out of necessity).

I hope Jason Licht isn't that stupid to cut ALL of those players. FA Dlinemen would demand more money to come here becaue they see the desperation and it would pigeon hole us in the draft.

Stevie T is also under contract but right now he's a level below the Will Clarkes and Ryan Russells of the world.

I don't think he will. I believe both Ayers and Gholston will be here for 2018. It was just moreso pointing out that the team could go in another direction if there were better options without any financial penalty is all. But our Dline is both devoid of talent and depth at the moment. Not a good look. But it's a long way to July when camp gets here so we'll see.

To me more than anything Licht just needs to find good pieces. We've been hearing about contract structure and lack of financial penalty for far too long around here. That 1 aspect has been what Dominik and Licht have had to hang their hat on. That's not good as an NFL GM. That's not a good look.
