First undefeated season since 72 Dolphins

Are you saying and win the Superbowl? If not, the Patriots had an undefeated season at 16-0 as well, but lost to the Giants in the Superbowl.

Wins are generally a mark of success. Losses can come from many sources.

Everything depends on whether we are building a successful team. If this is a team where the offense is mediocre but the defense carries it, it could go either way for DK. If the offense finally achieves to it's talent, but the D holds us back, it's probably the end for Smith, but DK stays. If we go 5-11 because Evans and Winston are on IR but play respectably, he's safe. Everything depends on the circumstances. Injuries? Playing well? Start strong and then lose our last 8? Start 0-7 and finish 9-7?

I want the team to win and make the playoffs as much as anyone. That seems so far away, though, that I can't even use it as a benchmark. In all honesty, I just want to see this team play good, solid, entertaining football. Fast, aggressive defense with a beat your ass and kick you while you're down mentality on offense. And can someone please make a damn play on special teams?!?!

This team has no identity on either side of the ball, and plays with no sense of urgency. If Dirk can change both of those issues and get this team to play a solid brand of football, I'd be in his corner regardless.

Give me something to look forward to as a fan!!!

I think the most important thing for this team next year is to not effectively lose games in the first quarter, and to not effectively have your season end by the beginning of November.

Unless the record is extreme one way or the other (3-13ish vs 13-3ish) I don't think that decision can be made by the record. Too many other factors contribute. Even9-7 can be shaky if we're talking 9 narrow victories and 7 ass whoopins. Injuries have to be factored in. There are just too many variables.

The OP's scenario isn't crazy. If we are good next year, we could still end up 9-7 with a few bad bounces just to how competitive our division is.

It's possible that we could keep Keotter but dump Mike Smith and Licht if we bomb the draft and the defense fails again but WInston shows marked improvement. There are a lot of variables in play.

If it's a nonsense 2010-like winning record, it won't save Koetter. But that scenario seems unlikely based on the projected schedule. A LOT of good teams are going to have to backslide for us not to have a tough go of it.
