The Buffalo Bills ended their 17-year playoff drought this season but bowed out in the wild-card round. Now GM Brandon Beane is out to ensure the playoffs become a regular occurrence, and the Bills drive deeper than one game.

Beane's offseason focus is clearly on the quarterback heading into free agency and the draft.

"It's a quarterback league, and until you know you have the guy that you're definitely going to build this team around and the offense around, you're constantly searching," Beane said with on WGR 550 AM in Buffalo earlier this week. "The teams that maked the runs in the playoffs consistently have a franchise guy that they lean on year in and year out. We're still in the process of getting that accomplished

Fixed it for Brandon Marshall

I know the dude has detractors, but there aren't too many QBs on the market any given year who can put up 4,000 yards and 30 TDs with arguably the worst skill position talent in the league around him.

I'd take Rosen or Darnold first, but if I'm one of those teams who needs a quarterback and I'm picking later on (Buffalo, Arizona, etc) I'm paying Kirk Cousins before I'm rolling the dice on Baker Mayfield or Lamar Jackson.

Alabama's weed laws are weird in that the misdemeanor charge is for weed intended for personal use, but does not place a quantity limit on it.

I could have 200lbs of weed in my house and if law enforcement determines it as being for personal use, I get a misdemeanor as the law specifies "any amount".

On the flip side, I could have half a gram and if law enforcement decides its for "Other than personal use" it's a felony carrying a 1-10 year sentence.

If they determine its for sale it's a felony with a 2-20 year hitch...for ANY amount.

So I'm in Alabama and I go out on a friday night to score some weed from my connection. I buy a gram for $20 and it comes in the form of 2 dime bags. I then go to the movies to see Frozen 2.

Cop stops me because of a minor traffic infraction. Walks the dog around my car and the dog smells my stash. Search finds my 2 dime bags and pipe, so I get felony possession of paraphernalia, and sine its 2 dime bags they decide I'm a dealer so I get felony possession.

I'm looking at 3 years for 2 felonies for a gram and a pipe to smoke it with. Plea deal says 1 year. So I take it.

In one year I go from regular guy to convicted felon with time served and a parole officer.

Damned pity I don't play in the NFL.

You don't need to play in the NFL. You just need to be able to afford the same attornies as NFL players and other people of means.

Indianapolis has narrowed its search to two candidates: Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Texans defensive coordinator Mike Vrabel. The plan is to gather intel this weekend, meet, then proceed Monday with either second interviews or simply by making a choice. McDaniels figures to be the front-runner, in part because if it was Vrabel the Colts would have made a move already. Based on the relationship between general manager Chris Ballard and McDaniels, as well as McDaniels' prowess with the quarterback position, McDaniels has long been in the lead. The only issue is the Colts might have to wait until February to hire him.

Agree with Bootz. There aren't a lot of dudes like him in the NFL. If his "wild man" attitude is just for show, he might be okay. But it's a really short list of big personality types who've been highly successful in the league. One thing that surprised me - he's like genius-level smart. He has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from RPI, which is New York's answer to MIT.

The Buffalo Bills hired Brian Daboll to be their offensive coordinator, the team announced Sunday.

Daboll spent last season at Alabama, where he led the Crimson Tide's offense to a national championship

Right?

He gets them to the playoffs and gets a W in the playoffs and gets canned?

Betchya DK is thankful as **** right about now...probably at home praising Allah, praying the rosary, reading the Torah and sacrificing a chicken just to make sure he's got all his bases covered...

Koetter so far has surpassed Lovie, Schiano, Bennett, and Williamson in overall record. He needs just 3 wins to surpass Raheem who had 3 seasons.

After that, he can join Dungy and Gruden as the only Bucs HC's to have a .500 win percentage if he can get the Bucs to 10-6 in 2018. In terms of winning %, he's already the third best coach in franchise history.

A dubious honor, but noteworthy.
