Tyrod Taylor to Cleveland

Buffalo must have a deal in place with someone. I wonder if its with a player or team.

Not necessarily. They've been moving on from Taylor ever since they benched him for that one game during the season. His time there was up.

That said, I would be surprised if they haven't had a plan in place for awhile. AJ McCarron would make a lot of sense. He's good enough to win with, his best opportunity (Cleveland) just closed up, and he won't be too expensive to preclude drafting someone anyway.

I was high on McCarron coming out. I’d like to see what the guy can do.

I really like Gaines. I liked him at Mizzou, and I liked him last year in Buffalo (I watched 7 or 8 of their games.) He looked really good in their zone scheme. If he's our top target I would take it to mean we're going to see more zone next year.

Hearing from few folks EJ Gaines to #Buccaneers is happening when FA opens. In the $8-9M per Yr range. Nothing Signed & Gaines has surprisingly deep market for a Zone Corner. But Bucs are SERIOUS

PFF #13 CB last season. His biggest issue is that he's never healthy. Only played 11 games each of the past 2 seasons, and missed the entirety of 2015 season. When he does play, he's pretty good. He's only 26 also.

Another bargain bin I see... I know he was a bit of a disappointment last year to Bills fans, but that could be because he was hurt. Like that he's 26. Would rather 1 of the bigger fish though.

I need to throw in that like I said, I really like Gaines. I watch a lot of MIZ games down here and he popped, and he's been quietly excellent when he's been on the field.

BUT, paying Gaines 4/36 or something instead of Trumaine Johnson 4/60 is Licht AF.

I hope it happens. He is a good player when healthy. And at that that price point it would be very good value.

Licht has made it perfectly clear that top dollar contracts are going to our own guys, not guys off the street. And I don’t blame him.

I like and don't mind that mindset...

But you don't give EJ Gaines $8mill/yr when the CB position is a dumpster fire and Johnson is available...

If we already had a competent #1 CB, not even a lockdown guy, it'd be one thing...

Hargreaves could still be that guy. Hell maye Gaines can. And there's still the draft. Trumaine Johnson is not the end all, be all.

I don't disagree with that either...this just feels like another one of Licht's underwhelming FA signings that slowly dies like an old helium filled balloon..

Trumaine Johnson is really overrated around here. You guys act like he's an elite corner coming off an elite year. He's not. Dude gave up the 5th most receiving yards by a CB last season(at 759). He had 4 straight games of 79 yards allowed or more. Sure, he's had some good years previously(and some really bad years) but let's not pretend that he's better than he actually is all because we have a lot of cap room and are desperate for a CB. Just because we have money to spend doesn't mean we should be stupid about it.

He gets a lot of attention around here because the Rams franchised him. Twice. That means something to the common folks on this board.

Signing EJ Gaines and seeing what the Bears are willing to match for Kyle Fuller would make me happy. I'd be all for signing Trumaine Johnson, too, but agree the hype is a bit much for him; he's far from a slam dunk.

Know what's going to help our secondary more than anything? A ***damn pass rush.

A pass rush would be ideal. But unless we can get our hands on chubb, it’s slim pickings

I'm being dead serious right now -

When you write stuff like that, do you actually believe it? Or do you have some kind of Jim Rome impulse to stir the pot for attention?

Ok, Nelson, Chubb, and Barkley are all gone when we get to 7. We mostly agreed on the fact linemen were needed, of course I took that as d-line and I'm sticking with it. I'm not flipping no coin on whether we go o-line or d-line, if its me you can expect a fresh stable of beef a comin to the d-line. RB, CB, and S will continue the suffering till we get some defensive linemen who are all thinking they want to outplay each other when they get some snaps. The sooner we get Gerald to realize he is just one of the boys, we are still going to struggle. Can we do better than last year by going backasswards yeah, but I think we will still see we got a problem.

This is my opinion that is of course a true and factual statement.

It gets proven. Just like everytime I make a point you choose not to address the point, you choose to focus on irrelevant details of a post. People who stir the pot do so with a group of people that know better. The majority of people on this board, especially you, don't.

Does that "majority" include the two different GMs who franchised him with the Rams and the multitude of other GMs who are going to be competing to make him one of the highest paid corners in the league or nah?

Pretty sure there will be a 3rd round Trumaine Johnson in this draft, maybe even a better one.

Got through half that post my man...if Chubb Barkley and Nelson are gone then try hard to trade down to a qb hungry team and get Davenport...or stay and take Fitzpatrick or Ward or whatever
