Are we 7th on the waiver wire? When it comes time for the cuts do we have six teams that get there shot at a player first?

Do we have any candidates with speed for gunner now that will send Josh Robinson out to pasture. I remember they gave Ryan Smith trouble with the double team and the sideline.

Yes if we're 7th on the waiver wire there will be 6 other teams able to claim a waiver before us.

That was to highlight the fact that nobody has the desire to talk about possible cuts coming, who we might want and chances of getting them.

Now, would you like to tackle the other post, smartypants?

That question also could promote discussion.

You're fantastic.

To promote discussion you could have asked that question several different ways. You have the Boyd Crowder dialect for this message board. Please don't change.

As for question, I don't think any cuts would help the Bucs. I haven't been high on June 1st or training camp cuts in a long time.

Ahem!

We have tons. All the young DBs as well as all the young receivers are likely going to get some reps there in practice and camp.

Calm down Charlie Brown.

Speed is a requirement. If I got it right, Josh figured it out that his speed and special teams was a way of continuing his career.

Blazing speed isn't a requirement. WR or DB speed is needed, but you don't need a burner. We've had good gunners over the years that weren't burners.

Yes, Stovall comes to mind as does Clayton when he was put in as a gunner.

USA Today ranks the NFL backup situations

6. Buccaneers: Fitzpatrick, set to enter his 14th season, went 2-1 last year while Winston ate only three Ws in 13 starts. Consistency has always been Fitzpatrick's bugaboo, but he has posted a QB rating of 86.0 or better in three of the past four years and offers underrated mobility and smarts — but a touch of overconfidence in his limited arm.

Well we were the only NFL team he played for. It's more by default than request.

There has been some pessimism around here since the Jamies suspension. I just wanted to remind people that there is still a lot to look forward to this season.
1) Chandler Catanzaro. Will the Bucs turn their kicking woes around?
2) Defensive Line. Can Vita Vea, JPP and the other new players get more than 22 sacks? Will the Bucs have someone with double digits in sacks for the first time since Simeon Rice? Will Noah Spence prove himself this season?
3) Lavonte David. The guy has been great at defensive defeats. Can he play better than he has the last two seasons?
4) The Secondary. Will C.Davis or M.J. Stewart play well? Probably Grimes last season. Will Justin Evans get even better? Can Chris Conte get even worse? Or will Whitehead or Igwebuike take his starting position?
5)WRs. Mike Evans has to have a better season than last year. Someone has to hit D.Jackson on a deep pass. Is Chris Godwin going to be a top receiver in the league?
6)Ronald Jones III. Haven't had a decent rookie RB since Martin.

There was a ton of hype at this same time last season. The roster right now is a lot better than last year. Lots of questions to be answered. I'm not telling people that the Bucs are going to be great. I just wanted to show that there are some good storylines surrounding the Bucs. So I will keep looking forward to the NFL season and I hope everyone else does too. :drinkingcheers:

Jameis’ suspension (including the reason for it) put damper on the excitement for me and most Buc fans. During the offseason I generally listen to 3-5 Bucs podcasts/Youtube channels weekly, but since the suspension I have not listened to any. I don’t think we will see that excitement again until the Bucs win a game. This offseason is the absolute opposite of last season. Fans are going to reluctantly limp into the season instead of running full steam ahead looking for the playoffs.

This is exactly what I'm going through, I was so pumped and excited for this season with all the changes, but this was a super bummer for me, it got me so down for next season.

Also, the thing about going to see my Bucs for the first time at the Ray Jay during my honeymoon only to see Fitz as our starter QB gets me so bummed out.. but I will try to enjoy the best I can, cause I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to get back, maybe after the World Cup ends, I'll get into the offseason more, along with the football fantasy to get my emotions back.

That excitement was already pretty low to begin with. Coming off our most disappointing season in awhile, fans were already pretty much writing off this upcoming season. Hell, most thought that this was likely Dirk's last year here even after the moves we made.

Now, it's just a sense of dread when you think about the Bucs. This fanbase is split on what they think...most other fanbases are actively rooting against the Bucs now. We're no longer considered that darkhorse team again...now we're mostly looked as a team on the verge of a major collapse

Reading r/nfl gives you a pretty wide spectrum of fandom. From that, I've learned that we're basically like the Browns to most fans. Except the Browns have this "lovable loser" vibe going for them. We're just forgotten. Maybe a better example would be the Jags of the past few years.

WTF is this debbie downer ****!! I pumped for this season and am glad expectations are tempered unlike last season. Other than the Winston suspension this offseason has been pretty ideal imo. We haven't proven ****, so I'd rather be under the radar and counted out instead of hyped up nationally. Until we start winning some damn games and putting together some winning seasons we should always be under the radar imo.

Winston missing 3 games isn't going to make or break our season. He's not what Aaron Rodgers is the Packers for us and the Bucs are going to have to play good defense and run the ball to win any of those first 3 games regardless of who is playing QB. If the Dline (and defense as a whole) plays well we can win find a way to win a game or maybe 2 of those first 3.

There's a total of $96 million wrapped up in that defense (2nd in the league) so they had damned well play better.
