He was rightfully not on the list.

So make the case that a guy with 25 catches, 300 yards and 3 TDs being one of the top 100 players of last year. Or a guy with 15 tackles, no sacks, INTs, forced fumbles being one of the best players last season. GO!

I wouldn't.

Exactly. People need to quit pretending this list has any credibility.

Exactly. It is fun to hear what other players have to say about their peers. It's hard to rank the best players in the league at all, even the top 5 or 10 since people place different values on positions, systems, length of service, etc. Also, the list is greatly influenced by team success, one big reason why the Bucs have zero players in the top 100. They went 5-11 after everyone pegged them as playoff contenders going into 2017.

Of the 90 players that have been introduced so far, only 34 players were on teams that didn't make the playoffs. Now, the two may not be completely mutually exclusive since it takes good players to win games, but good teams make good players better to win more games. A player can be great on a bad team, but it's hard to get much, if any recognition. This list is like the Pro Bowl in this regard.

The fact that the highest rated offensive lineman in the league is Tyron Smith all the way down at #39 makes this list loses all credibility for me when it comes to rankings. I just like to hear what players have to say about one another.

But isn't this supposed to be a "who will be a baller in 2018" sort of list? Isn't that how they put these together, I'm never sure.

LVD gets a lot of love, GMC represents on the linemen list and Kwon makes a cameo.

Even though it's called "Top 100 Players of 2018", it seems like the criteria is hugely based on the previous year, i.e. 2017, or based on past performances for injured stars, e.g. J.J. Watt and Odell Beckham Jr.

I think they expect these players to do great in 2018 as well, but I don't think it's actually in order of how well they think the players will do in 2018. It's basically a reward for their 2017-18 performances, like a Pro Bowl nod would be.

Can we name any "opinion" or "popular consensus" lists that DO have any credibility? I can't. It's a Buzzfeed world, though, and it demands content. As does the NFL Network in June.

Some people can't seem to accept that their offseason entertainment doesn't have a rigorous scientific backing.
.
All these "Top X lists", "Power Rankings", etc, are all subjective and just for fun. And yet every year, people across the interwebs get their panties in a bunch about them.

I would have said the Hall of Fame, but then they let TO in and now it too looks like a Buzzfeed. I think they voted in TO to get people to watch it, that backfired.

Bucs just changed the layout of their website! I prefer the old one.

Have a feeling these two will have career years playing behind the best defensive line the team has had in 15 years.

I at least expect it from Kwon, since Lavonte set his own bar way high in 2013 (145 tackles, 7 sacks, 5 interceptions, 10 PDs, 2 FFs).

badass. me too. if Winston isn't even going to be on the damn field for the first 3 games, at least maybe we'll have something to watch. would love to see this defense take a huge leap forward and get back to our old head bustin identity. With buckner on board, with this new stock of D-linemen, I expect big things too

I like this version okay. It loads slow though. At least on my work computer with it's limited speeds due to number of users.
I'm sure it will load plenty quick on via my home wifi.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/23769305/best-trade-extension-offers-earl-thomas-teams-join-2018-nfl
Earl Thomas, man o man ESPN really has no respect for lower market teams. The reality is we need a guy like Earl here and they don't even put us in a scenario of getting him. Instead they say the Patriots, Cowboys, and Chargers. 2 of those teams would not even try to get a guy like Earl. Patriots will not even pay cash for proven Vets on their own team that is not named Brady. The Chargers just drafted a versatile Safety.

How come we are not at-least looking at a price? He would be a great fit to this Defense, package Conte a 2nd and a 4th and call it a day. Get it done Dom...

We have 8 mil in cap space right now, we have 10 mil next year...and he wants 32 mil over the next 2 seasons. How the hell would we even entertain that?

Is that cap consideration based on a Roster projection or the amount of players we are taking into camp? Help me understand how the cap gets calculated when you still have to pay players that are not going to be on the team?

At the end of the day I understand its a dream, but I have always wondered how players in camp that get paid affect the overall team cap for the next yr. The Pre 53 ..

edit: bad wording

Tandy and Evans are listed as Strong Safeties

Conte is listed as a Free Safety

Igwebuike, Whitehead and Robinson are listed as DBs although they are part of the Safety group
