Which Bucs player is the biggest disappointment this season?

Postby DanTurksGhost » Sun Dec 24, 2017 5:26 pm

I think I've got to go with Chris Baker. I was pretty pleased with his signing and thought he'd really help eat up blocks and give GMac some more opportunities, but -- even without his boneheaded penalty against the Panthers -- Baker has totally underwhelmed. Not looking to be worth anywhere near the $16 million.

With all the DTs in this FA class, we signed Baker. Brutal.

I guess you could add Martin, but I don't know if disappointment is the right word since it should have been expected.

Also Spence getting injured off the bat was really disapointing- especially considering our edge rush was completely dependant on him.

3 whole TDs / 600 yards...so worth it.

Same with waste from Denver, Ward.

And never expected a thing from D. Smith since he's a poor man's Kenyata Walker.

You can tell he's on the field when he's wide open deep down the field and Winston misses him by 20 yards

I'm going with Baker. I think he was allowed to get away with being lazy in camp and that carried on throughout.

Sweezy , we need a Rg and LG or move Marpet back to RG and draft a center

VH3
Baker
TJ Ward
Ayers
Evans has also been a little disappointing.

For 75% of the season: Winston.

Otherwise Hargreaves.

I wouldn't call Sweezy a disappointment as expectations shouldn't have been that high for him anyway.

I know, which is more than I expected. Of course I was told I was being contrarian and didn't know what I was talking about but per the usual I was proven right.

Just like you were right about DJax?

As usual, alright. But then again, he is pretty ************.

Not sure how VH3 was the biggest disappoint this year. He was the worst CB in the NFL last year...not like expectations should've been high this year...or anything above servicable

My vote is Baker. Many liked the signing because he was considered a discount Poe. Not an all pro, but someone that can contribute against both the run and pass, and make the line better overall. So far he's done nothing

Super K said it best a few weeks back, he'd probably be more effective if he fell down every play and let his fat ass create a pile for him.

Didn't we have this argument about Chris Hovan, back in the day?

How much of the blame lies at the feet of Winston, and his complete inability to throw a deep ball. He is horrid on deep passes and his touch has not improved one iota.

While I agree DJax has underperformed , Winston has to shoulder the brunt of the blame. I am pleasantly surprised that DJax has not turned into a total distraction, that being said I think both DJax and Mike Evans are tiring of Winston's inability to get the ball to them on a consistent basis.

The biggest disappointment? It is Jameis Winston, his injury not withstanding he simply has not progressed, in fact he has regressed. And there is a growing sample of his ability to adequately handle all the pressure that comes with being the face of a franchise. His decision making in critical situations has not matured, and he has been surpassed by several quarterbacks chosen since he went number one overall.

Its been a total team effort, it spread all around this year like a California wild fire.

I'm not giving up on Scatter, however I'm pissed because he lit up about Bobo getting a pass. Put that **** down dude and get the friggin ball in the endzone.

Lol Prime, I was going to post the same thing. Jameis has been the best in his career as a passer the last 2 games.

If anyone watched those two games against playoff teams and sees a QB who hasn’t progressed they’re either ignorant, stubborn or a troll.

Jameis looks healthy and in control of the offense. I’ve never seen him play like this in the NFL.

#1. Baker...what a fat ass waste of space and cash this guy is...hell, I'd be ok with things like his boneheaded play yesterday if he gave all out effort every other snap, or even 50% of his snaps...dude thinks he's good, is loud, but flat out sucks... horrible combination

#2. Sweezy...only reason he isn't #1 is because of the injury (last year)...we waited and banked on him for this?...seriously?...subpar pass blocker, but we knew this going in...turns out he sucks at run blocking too..yippee..another FA swing and miss for Licht...

Sweezy isn't a good choice. His play early on was lacking but definitely got consistently better as the season went on. Coming off a bad injury and missing a full season, then playing with new guys in a new scheme, it's understandable. He was never an elite guard, so expectations should not have been particularly high.

I'm not alone when I say that I expected a playoff-caliber team. The suck has been a team effort. I am encouraged that our losses have been, by and large, close against good competition.

I did not expect Baker to be this bad. He is a cautionary tale showing that you can't treat practice like a joke and be good on Sundays unless you are a generational talent. He acts like he's arrived, and plays like a street free agent. He's had a few good run stops, but by and large his play is pedestrian. McDonald has outperforming him in every aspect this season.

Toss up between Djax and Baker for me. Overall, I think the failure of Baker to live up to his potential had the bigger impact, but that is more based on the lack of talent on the D-Line in general.
