Week 14 Discussion

Postby Bootz2004 » Tue Dec 05, 2017 8:16 pm

TE Rob Gronkowski is suspended this Sunday for his actions in Sunday's game against the Bills.

S George Iloka and WR JuJu Smith Schuster are suspended this Sunday for their actions last night in the Steelers/Bengals death matc--I mean football game.

LB Ryan Shazier was seriously injured and hospitalized with a neck/back injury but is stable and has feeling and movement in his extremities.

QB Eli Manning regained his starting job back after Ben McAdoo ended his 210 game starting streak and was fired after the game.

It would be like last year's Vikings who started 5-0 and ended up 8-8, not even close to the playoffs.

Anyone remember the '03 Vikings starting 6-0, missing the playoffs at 9-7 after losing to the 4-12 Cardinals on the last play of the season? Beat by the arm of a 24-year old Josh McCown.

Bengals Safety George Iokoka had his suspension reduced to just a fine by Derrick Brooks.

The Chiefs suspended CB Marcus Peters for 1 game.

Bengals WR John Ross was put on IR today.

John Ross (shoulder-IR) ends his rookie season with 0 receptions, 1 rush for 12 yards (and lost fumble on that play). Played in just 3 games.

I'm not sure what the deal is what him. He was a healthy scratch for 3 or so games.

Steelers safety Mike Mitchell had a pretty awesome presser today during open locker room. I recommend checking it out.

****ing LAME!!! More reactionary BULLSHIT catering the moral grand-standers out there.

These are professionals playing at the highest level of competition. Fine them and/or suspend after the fact when it's reviewed under an agreed upon process.

Way too often college LBs and DBs are getting ejected for "targeting" when a receiver is already diving/falling to the ground. The defender could be making every effort to lower target zone to the midsection, but when the receiver is falling to the ground WTF are they supposed to do?

GTFOH with this horseshit...

It's a bad enough and stupid enough rule in college...

All targeting penalties in college are automatically reviewed, just like scoring plays in the NFL. They can also be overturned. Presumably, they could be challenged at the pro level.

Statistically, you see a targeting penalty about every six games in college. They aren't exactly rampant.

And it would cut short the sort of horseshit that ran rampant in the Steelers-Bengals game. That was absurd.

I would approve of a targeting rule change. The potential benefits outweighs the potential annoyances.

Hey, all the better for an Andy Reid firing. Only coach I'd fire DK for.

There was a lot of talk about John Ross being injury prone before the draft last year. So I can’t say I’m surprised.

Looking forward to some good games this
CAR/MIN
JAX/SEA
PIT/BAL

Also tonight’s TNF game is not yuck, imo. I’m intrigued Yes! Definitely interested to see how each team plays defense. Doubt there will be much single coverage on Julio

Michele Steele‏Verified account
@ESPNMichele

Just got off phone w neurologist Dr Anthony Alessi, who consults w NFLPA, asked him what he makes of Shazier's spinal stabilization surgery. "It's not good...We're not going to see him this season. He may not play football again."

Just hope the guy lives a full and healthy life at this point. If he loves the game I'm sure either OSU or the Steelers will welcome him into a position and groom his career development. But playing football is something that shouldn't be considered until his rehab fully complete and multiple doctors tell him he's at no further risk of injury than prior to when he was hurt. Which seems impossible given the nature of the surgery. But I'm no doctor.

I'll cop to that, though my interest went WAY down after we signed Jackson. Still shocked he can't get on the field, but I wouldn't write him off. Some guys take longer to acclimate. The Bengals have a lot of a receiver talent in front of him also.

Not me. Firmly against Ross. Loved his speed, sure, but his injuries and size were a major concern for me, maybe would've considered him in Day 2, but I specifically remember saying he is more likely to be Dexter Jackson than Desean. So far I'm looking right.
