Week 9 Discussion

Postby Bootz2004 » Mon Oct 30, 2017 3:31 pm

Andrew Luck is out for week 9. Word within the organization is he's still having pain in his surgically repaired shoulder and is seeking other options and opinions. Closer to I.R. than he is playing this season.

They have zero plans to play luck.

They wont IR him because they don't want it to be apparent they are tanking. If it is known they are tanking then teams wont give them value for a draft pick trade plus fans wont show up to games.

All I thought, since I didnt care who won. I would have loved to see the ball slapped out of Peters hand for the way he was carrying it!

They had better offers in the off-season. Much better. Much like the rest of the Pats off-season moves this one doesn't seem like a win for them. They have 1 QB on their roster: Brady. He's been an iron man but at 40 he's taking more hits this year than any other season I can remember for him. Very risky move to count on his health.

Agreed...

Browns buddy of mine tweeted that Jimmy Gs agent "blocked" any Cleveland deal..don't know how that could/can be done, but wouldn't surprise me..

What were the exact offers?

Were these the same teams that offered a 1st for Glennon?

The same talking heads who announced pre-draft that there were 1st round picks offered for him are now saying there weren't. The point is, no one with real credibility knows. As I said during pre-draft discussions...I don't believe we turned down a 1st for Glennon just as I doubt the Patriots would turn down a 1st for Jimmy G.

I've heard a couple of times, including on here, that the Browns offered a 2nd round pick for him pre-draft.

edit: All reports say that Hoyer will go back to NE where he knows the system. I think if Brady went down their Superbowl chances were done regardless of who the back up is.

The "they had better offers" thinking is just ridiculous.

It may be true. My point is we don't know. I just don't think the offers were ever as rich as what was reported. At one point people were talking that the 1st overall pick was on the board for him, then they said the Browns only wanted to do the 12th pick and a later pick. There's no way the Patriots would turn that down when they were actively shopping him. I'd guess a 2nd and late round pick were the best they received and while they didn't quite get that. It's close enough.

That makes absolutely no sense. Please share the link. Unless a team was going to give them a boatload of draft picks, the 1st pick in the second round seems like a pretty good damn pick to me, for a guy that is not proven a damn thing. New England does it all the time and the track record is there. Brady has at least 2 more years, thats enough to draft a guy and develop. Or even grab one of the young FA qbs out on the market. New England bamboozled yet another team.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Bengals and Browns actually agreed to AJ McCarron trade at 3:55 pm, per source involved. Bengals approved trade to NFL, Browns did not.

Kindly provide legitimate sources or you'd be (once again), full of ****.

And we'll all be expecting "alleged" rumors ...nothing of substance.

All the CBs in the AFC North now cower in fear. For the news broke tonight: Browns WR Josh Gordon's return, is near.

He's been conditionally reinstated to the NFL...but there is a timetable. He can start attending meetings now, he can practice with the team starting on 11/20, and can play after 11/27(won't play until December). Hopefully he can stay clean as he's an immense talent that's only 26

That is a kind way of saying it. Before the season the Buffalo News was talking about tanking the season.

Not to worry MJW, while we may suck this year and go 4-12, we'll be back to a team on the rise next year after we go 6-10. Watch out for those Bucs in 2019

I'll believe it when Sports Illustrated proclaims the Bucs will be the 2019 Super Bowl champions on one of their 2018 covers.
