This is a fantastic signing. As has been said he will open up the whole offense and save us from having to sigh our way through a rookie's brain farts all year. That's not to say we won't draft a receiver (in fact I hope we do in the mid rounds), but it will allow us to not have to rely on said rookie and bring them along slowly.

Oh and that sound you heard? That was all the buttholes of the rest of the NFCS slamming shut all at the same time.

I'm thrilled with this.

Not that this matters, but I feel like it's been a while since a signing was this universally appreciated and praised by the fan base.

The Baker signing, too, actually. Hell of a start to the new season!

I didn't read the whole thread so I don't if this has been said. If John Ross checks out medically, I don't think he is on the board for us. With his production combined with that 4.22, someone jumps early.

I think Ross is the most overrated player projected for the first round. I'm also not sure the WRs other than Mike Williams who have been projected for the first round go in the first round.

I also doubt the Bucs select a WR in the first round. Maybe 3rd or 4th.

Great signing. Very excited. I'm not sure we've had a player with this skill-set in our entire history. He's going to make everything so much easier for everyone else. And the price was honestly below market IMHO, when you look at what guys like Robert Woods are getting.

It is worth noting that our track record with small wide receivers who wear #10 and were drafted in the 2nd round of the 2008 draft is not great to this point.

We're finally getting the right D.Jackson of that draft. Ironically taking him from Bruce Allen.

Yup. Wanted this DJax in that draft so bad. So pissed when he went two picks before us.

3 TE sets with a lead blocker for Charlie Garner.

Djax blocking on the edge, Evans on the sidelines grabbing the coach by the collar.

Lead blocker? No way. That would mean playing Alstott.

Some mocks have JuJu dropping to the third. That's pure overthinking, imo, but I'd pounce on that so quick. The guy would destroy slot defenders.

Courtesy of Jenna Lane ESPN:

The full contract breakdown for DeSean Jackson is pretty simple: three years, $33.5 million with $20 million guaranteed. That includes a $6 million roster bonus. No incentives or escalators. Of the $11 million base salary in 2018, $7.5 million of $11 million is fully-guaranteed. No guaranteed money in the third year. For those curious about the salary cap hits: $12.5 million in 2017, $11 million in 2018 and $10 million in 2019. The pay-as-you-go model is smart here because the team will want to sign Mike Evans to a big extension and later Jameis Winston.

Pretty good contract setup in my opinion.

I'd take him in the second, honestly. He's an Anquon Boldin clone who as you said, would destroy slot corners.

That probably pushes Hump to number 4, which is fine. And it would make for a great receiving core, where everyone has their own niche. In order.

Evans - Does everything well, can run every route, can win jump balls, excellent red zone threat, can win downfield, demands safety help.
Jackson - A speed machine, best deep threat in the NFL, wildly experienced, will run clear out routes for our team to open up underneath coverage, demands safety help.
JJSS - Very physical, great hands, can win contested catches in traffic and keep the chains moving, underrated after the catch, will help spring larger gains in the run and pass games with his excellent blocking, especially on screens.
Hump - Does most of his damage within ten yards of the LoS, great on screens, great short area quickness, can get a step on the defender on short routes consistently, hard worker, good hands.
The Fifth Guy - Hope you like special teams

Pretty well rounded, I'd say.

Especially when you throw in the possibility of Howard or Engram at TE alongside Brate. That could immediately make us potentially the best passing attack in the league IMHO.

Good set up. It'll have zero impact on extensions for Evans or Winston. We have more than enough space to extend Evans now and will have enough to extend Winston in 2-3 years.

Been a while since we've had an almost universally accepted free agent signing both in player caliber and contract setup. We had our guy in mind and got the job done. Well done!

Hope to see Koetter use this guy in the screen game.

One knock on Jackson is he can be a bit of a one trick pony so to speak, deep threat but not much in the intermediate or short game and that causes him to disappear occasionally. That's when Koetter needs to call a screen play for him, this guy is dangerous with the ball, make sure he gets chances
