There's no way each team could get 2 bye weeks. You'd have to extend the season by way more than a week *****.

Do you even math *****?

The NFL used 2 bye weeks in 1993.

They must have added like 10 weeks to get that one extra week off.

The current CBA is ridiculously pro-owner, and as the OP said, the players do not have the will power/smarts/whatever you want to call it to actually hold out long enough to get exactly what they want. And the sad thing is...the players know this.

It's not lack of smarts, but time. NFL careers are so short that the threat of one lost season is enough to get them to cave.

Definitely not an expert on TV rights but I can't imagine adding an additional week of games wouldn't also add a big raise in TV rights revenue.

The number of games wouldn't change. An extra week is irrelevant. Unless we're talking about MSESPN's two remaining viewers watching an extra week of 'SportsCenter'

The number of games per week doesn't matter since regions are only playing two games at a time at most. The number of games each region broadcasts ups from 17 to 18. So rather than us getting sixteen weeks of local coverage and one regional game of the week during the Bucs games, we get 16 local games and two weeks of whatever is deemed our regional game of the week.

I can just imagine what a scheduling disaster that would be. One team would end up with back to back bye weeks or two byes in a 3 week period. Scheduling is already tough enough as it is and every year there's always some "what the heck were the schedulers thinking when they gave us this" outcry, no one likes a week 5 BYE week as is, sometimes you get a short week or a poor stacked combo of primetime games or clumps of away and homes games. I can't imagine how much more messy it would get if they tried to give every team a second bye week.

I doubt teams would get back to back bye weeks. Nor do I think they would complain about having a 2nd bye week during the season. I do think it would make scheduling more complex. But they have alot of smart guys with computers to figure that stuff out.

I don't think it would be that hard. Simplest way would just pair bye weeks 6 weeks apart for example, and divide the teams per pair. You could divide the teams by division, by their placement in the standings, or even at random.

If only there was some precedent we could check to see how much of a disaster it was for scheduling.

Keep in mind that was with 4 fewer teams and no mandate for who played who annually. It wouldn't be as simple as before.

Or to the Saints to help fill the void of trading away Cooks.

What they're saying is they've known about it, and in fact, it's the same condition that likely led to his drop in the draft (remember he was considered a contender for #1 overall pick at one point.) I don't know if that's true, but hopefully this isn't serious.

As for Maclin, the most likely teams I'd say are:

1) Buffalo. They have the pieces to be a competitive team, but right now their top three receivers are a guy who can't stay healthy, a guy who was at East Carolina last year, and a guy who had trouble beating Ted Ginn out for snaps in Carolina.

2) Baltimore. The biggest issue for them might be cap space, but it's hard to see him not being a better replacement for SSSR than Breshad Perriman is right now.

3) Washington. They lost Garcon and D-Jax. They do have Pryor, Crowder, and Josh Doctson, but another established vet might make sense. Besides, they're usually the team that makes this move.

4) Chicago. I like the odd mix of receivers they have right now, but you could make a case Maclin is instantly their #1 guy if he goes there.

5A) Arizona. I think they're a mortal lock to have drafted one of the "big three" wideouts in this past draft if one had been there. It's a real need with Fitz's age, Brown's health, and Floyd washing out.

5B) Rams. The theme of this offseason for the Rams has been getting Goff weapons. They added some guys in the draft, and Robert Woods in free agency, but nobody like Maclin. I could see McVay pushing for a guy like this.

Dark Horse: Carolina. Kelvin Benjamin is fat. Funchess is limited. There's no sure thing 3rd receiver. This makes a lot of sense if Carolina wants to spend the money.

Of those options if I'm Maclin I head to Arizona and make it work.

I'd avoid Arizona like the plague. I wouldn't bet that Carson Palmer isn't done, and I'd hate to be stuck there even if he does squeeze out one more year. Not much different than going to the Chargers, and I'd go there first. CAR makes sense for him. Baltimore too. Cincinnati. GB. Dallas would be a dark horse, but he'd work there. He could just wait until Martavius gets suspended again and go to Pittsburgh. WASH as mentioned, also Miami. Philly as mentioned. Wouldn't be stunned at Texans.

Point is, he has tons of places he could land in a good situation for him and the team.

The early rumors say Buffalo. It makes sense. He'd be the undisputed #1 target as soon as Sammy Watkins has his annual injury. Tyrod Taylor is a sneaky-good QB. And I guess he's BFFs with LeSean McCoy from Philly.

Of course...you're in Buffalo (I love that town but I doubt it's high on most players' lists), you're playing for 2nd place on a team that hasn't made the playoffs since Clinton was President, and you're paying those great New York State taxes.

Crazy. At the beginning of last season they were considered possibly the best receiving corps in the league.

Interesting. I don't think I knew (or remembered) about Cams shoulder but they had been talking about Andrew luck being fully healthy I thought. They are gonna have to learn how to protect that guy.
