Falcons agree to terms with 2-time Pro Bowler Dontari Poe

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a one-year deal with former Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poe, the team announced Thursday.

The deal is for $8 million and could increase to $10 million with incentives, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The 26-year-old Poe, who has been selected twice for the Pro Bowl, totaled 10.5 sacks in 2013 and 2014 and has 13 in his five-season NFL career.

"Poe is an athletic, big guy that can push the pocket," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said in a statement. "He will add to our defensive line group and will mix nicely with (Vic) Beasley, (Grady) Jarrett, Shelby and (Adrian) Clayborn. We are happy to be able to add him to our roster."

The Chiefs decided against using the franchise tag on Poe despite having the option to do so after signing safety Eric Berry to a long-term contract. They would have had to offer Poe a one-year deal worth $13,387,000 had they franchised him.

Free agent Darrelle Revis said he "definitely" wants to continue his playing career and would be open to a position switch to safety.

The soon-to-be 32-year-old (in July) is working with a new trainer and has changed his entire nutrition plan, resulting in a loss of 10 pounds. Some estimated Revis, who is listed at 198 pounds, was playing at upwards of 220 pounds in 2016. Leaving a Pittsburgh court room on Wednesday, where he had all of his charges from a February brawl dropped, Revis made a pitch to his hometown Steelers, saying it would be a "dream come true" to play for them.

Cowboys re-signed RB Darren McFadden to a one-year contract.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports McFadden "had interest from elsewhere," but no visits or supposedly-interested teams leaked. McFadden missed most of 2016 as he recovered from a mysterious, freak arm injury. He rushed the ball 24 times for 87 yards (3.6 YPC) following his Week 15 return. McFadden has a decent all-around game, while his downhill style plays well behind Dallas' dominant line. Going on 30, he's a nice piece to have behind budding superstar Ezekiel Elliott.

I just threw up in my mouth a little.

We can't run it in the A-gaps with that matchup.

I wouldn't mind ap at all at a decent price given Martin's uncertainty.. I'd guess he ends up a raider tho..

Poe is overrated, there's a reason he lasted so long on the market and signed a 1 year deal. The Falcons got a big body inside, but that's about it. He's not a disruptive force or anything.

Poe will definitely improve that defense... unfortunately for them the signing is 31 points too late.

Nah bruh, Hawley is tough, a warrior!!! He'll bait Poe into a personal foul after Poe knocks him on his ass in our backfield a few times.

Rankins-Fairley, Star-Kawaan Short, Poe-Jarrett just in our division. But Hawley can't block anyone consistently anyways, so whatever...

But atleast the Falcons blew a 28-3 lead with 17min left in the Super Bowl.

Just out of curiosity, how would you rank the DT combos within this division? I think the Baker addition puts us #1 though that could definitely be biased.

Ya, a low confidence Sherman getting abused by Evans in practice constantly wouldn't help us much.

Schefty is reporting that the Raiders are trying to get Beastmode. Would need the Seahawks to cut/trade him.

I'm just in the "No" camp because I know they'll want insane compensation.
