I'm almost surprised they didn't just leave him at the airport to start their search a week earlier. It's a shame because he's not a bad coach. The Chargers are a .500ish team having a .500ish season. And he's taken them to the playoffs once...twice? Not sure. But it's not like he's Gus Bradley.

I am not a fan of firing coaches. I thought our last two firings were BS. I think consistency matters. With that said IDK how Hue keeps his job. And Sashi Brown, passing on (running away from) Wents AND Watson? Ouch....

Yep..

Hue is a deadman walking..

And Cleveland passing on not 1 but 2 franchise QBs in 2 consecutive years is just so... Cleveland

I don't know how Cleveland expects to win a game this season if they're benching their QBs every other quarter now.

At 1-22(and only getting worse), I don't see how you keep Hue. Sure, it's a long rebuild, but you have to show some progress after a 1-15 season

As a Browns fan and Cleveland native...the franchise has sucked for the most part of its rebirth. Which is a shame because the last five or ten years before Modell left, the team was quite good.

We have had horrific owners, coaches, GM's, players, scouts etc. Randy Lerner and Jimmy Haslam are probably two of the top 5 most incompetent owners in all of sports. It's hard to apportion a large blame on the coaches...it's not like players leave Cleveland and are all of a sudden good. That being said, it's pretty difficult not to win 4 or 5 games in the NFL nowadays.

I'm glad fans are finally not showing up to games.

The Buccaneers second game in 1977, at home against the Vikings, was played on a Saturday. So I guess it is correct that the Bucs lost 25 straight games played on Sunday.

No surprise that ESPN would dig deep for such a meaningless statistic.

And Cleveland's one win last year was on a Saturday.

I think getting McCarron is the best thing they could do for their QB woes, and they fucked it up. Jesus, I actually just pity their fan base. Maybe the league will do right by them here.

Wait getting a backup QB who hasn't thrown a pass since 2015 wouldve been the best thing for Cleveland?! LMAO

Yep. Everything he's shown in college and in Cincy (when he's played) looks more promising than what they have in Cleveland now. He already knows the offense, would clearly have the trust of Hue, and there is enough of the season left to see what he'd add to the team; maybe showing enough promise that they can consider options other than a QB in the first round next year... maybe not.

Short of getting a time machine, I think that would be (would have been) their best option. What do you think their best option would have been?

Agreed. He's probably not a franchise guy in the classic sense, but skill-set, resume, and familiarity/trust with Hue and his offense made it a no-brainer. Especially if they could have kept both first-rounders for other positions and continued the rebuild. Shoot, he's worth a 2nd even if he can help win them the games they're able to win for a couple years, and then maybe they look for that franchise guy later on.

Reports are that the Browns ownership (specifically Dee Haslam) went "nuclear" on the FO for ****ing up the trade. Browns coaches are irate at the FO because they didn't try hard enough at the deadline(according to source, Sasha and others left office at 5pm on day before deadline which really pissed off Hue)). Browns FO are blaming the Bengals for not submitting the signed Browns documents with their documents. Bengals are basically saying "We did it how it was supposed to be done"....and that both teams send paperwork, not just one.

This is kinda sad tbh.

As a Cleveland native and Browns fan, I’m glad the trade didn’t go through. It was far too high a price.

Incompetency paid off!!!

A 2nd and a 3rd is a lot to give up for a QB whose ceiling is probably "poor man's Kirk Cousins." Unless, of course, you're all about to get fired and you need to do something, anything, to give the fans and ownership hope that is.

I hate switching coaches, but no one can survive 0-16. Actually, pretty sure Hue is already a dead man walking. Shame.

With that said if we do clean house I'd love to bring in Hue to be our OC. Heck, if he could co-exist with DK I'd still love to do it all the same. It's very unpredictable, lots of motions, lots of things to throw the defense off.
