per schefter this morning the buccaneers release veteran linebacker Deone Bucannon.

This opens up a potential compensatory pick now. Releasing Perriman could open another.

I think the fact that the Jack Cichy injury wasn't more than a 2-4 week thing and the return of Devin White combined to make the Bucs feel comfortable releasing this depth piece. D-Buc just wasn't getting snaps here.

edit*
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
To fill the roster spot left by Deone Bucannon’s release, the #Bucs signed LB Noah Dawkins off the #Bengals practice squad, source said.

Noah Dawkins is a Linebacker that ran a 4.4 with a tweaked hammy and a 4.3 when healthy. he's FAST.

We get our 3rd rd pick from Kwon back. If Perriman leaves(he should), we'll get our 4th from Humpheries iirc

Miller or Bobo would need to step up this week for the coaches to feel comfortable releasing Perriman imo

Have to hope Cleveland hangs on to Adarius Taylor. They should because he's playing STs for them however, if they decide not to keep him, it screws the Bucs.

Bobo needs to go along with Perriman --- bring back Schnell and poach Stephen Denmark, would of rather had Chris Westry but Dallas protected him by putting him on IR.

Bobo won't step up until he's run at least 3 yards back first.

I really hate myself for saying this, but I feel like we missed Perriman last week. Defenses have to respect that speed. I think it's one of the reasons Winston had so much trouble finding dudes on intermediate routes. Miller and Wilson are trash, and Watson isn't a deep threat.

To be fair, I haven't watched the A-22 so I can't confirm this theory regarding last week. But I can confirm that the Saints didn't seem very concerned with Wilson or Miller beating them deep.

I think the all-22 tape comes out on Thursday, tomorrow. Im gonna do a deep dive to see if Winston is gunshy, hung out to dry, or if our receivers just can't get open. Something's rotten in the state of Denmark with our passing game, despite Winston's recent quarterback ratings.

Excellent. Very much looking forward to it, Cheb. I really want to know if Winston is holding the ball too damn long, or if there's simply nothing there.

Winston faced 5 to 6 DB's all game long (4 at 100%) (5 at 84%) (6 at 51%)
1 to 2 LB's all game long
And a eight man d-line rotation all game long

The offense plays very little special teams
The defensive rotation plays very little special teams

They have 9 players who are solely dedicated to special teams. (game 5)

The last game in 2018 against New Orleans they bitched out Godwin, this time it was Evans. What New Orleans needs is a smash mouth approach, just pop those DB's in the mouth all game long. Move the markers and take a few shots here and there.

If Michael Thomas tried to play more like Evans, Brees would get sacked more.

If Evans tried to adopt some of MT's game Winston would be sacked less.

Maybe.

Ok, I made an executive decision. We dont have a year and a half to wait for Winston and Perriman to learn how to connect.

Scoop up Jamal Davis and let him help the DE opposite of Shaq on 3rd down.

His 1.58 ten yard split could show up.

(Shaq's ten yard split is 1.68)

Blame the playcalling my friend. Cheb pointed this out in his latest great thread, but (just like with Dirk) we're doing a crap job of giving Winston bailout options right now. If we did have Michael Thomas, we'd be using him exactly like we're using Evans.
