I'd offer a third and wait for the counteroffer of a second, which I would accept.

However this would nessesitate creating cap room. May have to make a move or two.

So what exactly would the move be if we traded for Peterson? Sit Carlton Davis?

Option A would be release Brent Grimes, put Peterson in his place, and keep the depth chart as is.

Option B would be have Grimes and Peterson as your top two guys, Davis in the slot, and Stewart as depth.

Option C is choose your own adventure.

Option A isn't an option. Grimes deal is fully guaranteed this year and we'd save no money. $7mil of dead money on our cap

Option B isn't a realistic option. Davis has worked exclusively outside this season. Throwing him inside out of the blue would be a disservice to him. His skills set isn't ideal for a slot corner either.

Option C the only thing that makes this happen is sitting Davis outside and essentially all together as we don't rotate corners and MJ Stewart plays all of the slot snaps. But you aren't sitting Grimes and his salary.

I assume it would be Option A and we'd figure out the money short-term. But I wouldn't expect this deal regardless.

I would put PP and Davis on the outside with Grimes in the slot and MJ at Safety... Rumor mill has hm going to the Saints though:/

Option B and C. Davis can learn the slot, expand his skillset, while still spelling Grandpa Grimes on the outside. No reason not to make this if you don't overpay and can make cap room.

I think when you are ranked 30th in pass defense it really doesn't matter who you sit in the place of Patrick Peterson. The logic in your thoughts often disturb me. Now it's time for me to ask "do you even watch football?"

Met PP once at an NFL Flag Football event. Other players there too. Towards the end, as they were heading back into the Hummer, he was the only one that stopped, turned back, and signed some more **** while talking to the kids.. Became one my kid’s favorite player after that. Big hands. Cool as ****.

Yep.

Revis certainly fell off a cliff, but it wasn't in Tampa.

Curious if they would trade either Guard? They have two pretty good ones and either would be a significant upgrade over the RG disaster on the Bucs Oline.

Now you're talking. I don't think it's a stretch to say that spot is the only real glaring weakness on the offense. Even an average RG makes this offense that more dangerous. That said both of those guys are expensive.

you and I would be significant upgrade over Benenoch... he is on pace to allow most sacks in a single season by a guard. thats worst then guards in '86 Eagles or 2002 Texans OL...

Benenoch is ripe for a ‘statement cut’. Licht and Koetter love a good statement cut and if he played a more exposed position it would’ve happened by now.

Although I suppose they also have previous on sticking with random guys when nobody else can understand what they see in them.
