***Week 7 vs Browns Discussion Thread ***

Gerald McCoy and Vinny Curry the only 2 players who didn't practice today. Carlton Davis did practice. We'll need him against Josh Gordon..Oh wait...

If we can't beat the ****ing Browns (I realize they are better than they have been) in RayJay I'm shifting to draft mode.

I know the Bucs pass defense is horrible. But this is still a rookie QB throwing to very average group of skill players.

Unless the Bucs turn the ball over alot they should win this damn game. But I'm not convinced. The Bucs defense has broke me :cry: . :D

I like Mayfield. I think he has a bright future. But right now that passing offense isn't threatening anybody. I'm interested in seeing the game plan. A22 shows that we've actually been generating some pressure with just the front 4(JPP mainly). McCoy likely won't play so he'll have to be on as well as Beau and Vita. We should win this game.

He's got a calf injury. He got hurt late in the Falcons game.

The calf injury was a result of compensating for his butthurt.

This is why you don't play injured folks.

McCoy’s been a gamer since those injury plagued first couple years. I’ve seen him get beat up in games we had no chance winning and staying out there in the 4th qtr.

It’s great we have quality depth in Vea. Hope he’s ready for a full workload. Not sure if Gholston is going to be the other guy in the rotation at DT but the Browns RB don’t bother me

For this week I’m most worried about Njoku and possibly Duke Johnson catching passes

I'm sure Gholston is dancing on air to get the opportunity to play more meaningful snaps.

Looking at our division foes' upcoming schedule, it sure would be an opportune time to peel off a run as I see multiple potential Ls for all of them:

Panthers
@PHI
vs BAL
vsTB
@PIT
@DET

Falcons
vs NYG
@WAS
@CLE
vs DAL
@NO

Saints
@BAL
@MIN
vs LAR
@CIN
vs PHI

Coming out of that 5 game stretch we will really know if the Saints are good or if them beating teams with a combined 8-13-1 record is just beating up on the scrubs of the world.

The Bucs next 7 games is going to make or break the season. We get Panthers 2x as the only NFCS opponent in that span, of the other 5 only the game in Cincinnati is one where we're a clear underdog.

v Browns
@ Bengals
@ Panthers
v Redskins
@ Giants
v 49ers
v Panthers

We should be able to outscore most of the these teams if our offense continues at it's current pace. Hopefully the defense can not be completely shitty.

If we can go 5-2 over those 7 games we'll be 7-5 heading into the home stretch;

v Saints
@ Ravens
@ Cowboys
v Falcons

Bad hands and undisciplined as a route runner. Keep him out of the open field and we'll be fine.

He's a non factor. I'll fear him when he learns how to catch. Travis Benjamin had better hands

Fair enough, I’ve just gotten so used to this Defense being everyteam’s cure all for underperforming players not playing to their talent. David Nijkou and Landry need minimal contributions. We should win this game, the raiders put up 45 on them.

I can easily see Mayfield having a breakout game against us...just like Trubisky did...mobile QB with a quick release...

We need to contain their ground get and our ****ing LBs have to be able to cover because I think we'll see a ton of Duke Johnson in the passing game...

Their D is no slouch...DSmith vs Garrett is gonna be one helluva test for our LT...

I say this every week but RZ defense. We’ve given up 15 TDs to opponents on 16 RZ attempts. Cleveland is around 50% scoring in the RZ.

The Browns also only have 6 passing TDs on the year. I hope we shed the tag of being the cure all for stats like that.

Just remember how bad Chicago's offense looked before playing the Buccaneers. I expect the Browns to look really good on offense this weekend.

The Browns are a pretty good matchup for our overmatched defense. As has been said, they don't have dynamic receiving options right now. The guy who really scares me is Duke Johnson. He's not as explosive as Tarik Cohen, but he's just as dangerous as a pass catcher. Neither Callaway or Njoku are catching the ball well, but it only takes 1-2 blown coverages to change a game.

When we're on offense, I fear Myles Garrett, as should we all. The Browns missing Joe Schobert is big. He's one of the best coverage linebackers in the NFL. If Jameis is smart (cough) he'll avoid Denzel Ward and pick on the rest of the secondary.

We're a better team than they are, but that doesn't mean a ton these days.

In typical itsabucslife fashion, the passing defense finally plays well but we get gouged in the run game

With JPP, Beau, Vita, Gholston and Curry up front I don't see that happening.

Yep.

#Bucs DE Vinny Curry had his ankle elevated and his leg on a scooter inside the training facility Thursday. Feels unlikely he will play Sunday.
