Nope. But the difference between actual arm length and what you lose by the arms being where they are is still more than 7 feet in most cases. Don’t try so hard, kyddo. Stick to football....Oh wait, that’s right. You can’t. My bad. Troll on.

Found an "expected standing reach" calculator: https://www.whatsmyvertical.com/standing-reach/

It hits 7 feet, 0.1 inches at 5'3. So we should amend Bootz' statement to "Mostly anyone who's 5'3 or above can just raise their arms up and that's 7 feet right there."

Fun fact from that site- Tyler Ullis of the Phoenix Suns is 5'9 with a standing reach of 7 feet, 4.75 inches (shortest in the NBA)

my standing reach is 8 feet 2 inches something... so that means a jameis red zone pass would hit me in the elbows

Bingo. I hope Swashy gets it now. There aren't any 6'5 or 6'6 DBs so putting it up high for big targets in the red zone is the way to go. Jameis is great at doing that.

Given the size of our targets, the optimal pass is probably somewhere around 10'.

And you'd have to be 6'0" for a full 24" extension on your expected reach.

Fun fact - at the NFL Experience in Times Square, they have a station where they measure your standing reach and then your vertical and then compare it to NFL players.

That sucks. I really liked him and hoped he'd be able to stick around. He was the one who tore his meniscus last year and kept playing and secured our preseason win over Jacksonville with a deflected pass in the corner of the end zone to end the game. Wish him the best with wherever he may land.

I like versatility, but it's different with guys who are one of the best in the game at what they do.

McCoy is one of the best 4-3 under tackles in the game. His quick first-step may be unmatched in this league, maybe second to Aaron Donald among DTs. I don't like the idea of playing guys out of position when they are so good at what they do, especially now that we have a competent NT in Beau Allen and one that needs all the reps he can get as a rookie in Vita Vea.

We'll see. I think McCoy is most effective playing from the 3tech since it makes doubling him w/ the Center a more difficult task. It also puts the NT playing that 1-tech alot of room to operate vs a 1v1 block (assuming the Center double teams McCoy).

But I do think Buckner will mix in some various fronts on defense. However on passing downs the best pass rushing DT is often lined up as a 3tech these days of teams are in a 4 man front.

I do think we finally have the personnel to run some 3 man fronts this season with addition of Allen and Vea who can play over the Center. I'd like to see McCoy out wider as a 5 or even a 7 in certain situations attacking a Tackle instead of a Guard.

As quick as McCoy's first step is, do you think he has the overall speed and quickness to be effective as a 5 or 7 tech in a 3-man front? Does that even matter since generally the primary task of a 3-4 DE is generating enough push to clear things up for a linebacker coming on a blitz?

I think any potential use of a 3 man front would be very limited and McCoy's hypothetical role as a 5tech would be sparse. But I do think McCoy is an elite pass rusher. So if the opponent has a weak OT in the game I'd like to see McCoy put in position to attack him.

I just like the 3 man line in sub packages as a different look for the opposing Oline/QB b/c the multiple pressure options a defense has.

That said, we may not see it at all. But it's mid-June so this is the time for random offseason speculation.

Good!! That is some blatant disrespect and should serve as nice chip on shoulder for this team if that have a competitive bone in their body.

I don't think the Bucs should've been well represented and some will point to our 5 win season as a reason. But we had 2-3 players in the top 100 after going 2-14. I don't think for a second that Jurel Casey is a better player than Gerald McCoy or Doug Baldwin is better than Mike Evans. OBJ and JJ Watt barley played last season and still made the list.

That is one way to look at it. But if you're Mike Evans who has proclaimed he views himself as top 5 WR in the NFL and you're left off the top 100 after a mostly healthy season than I'd imagine there is some type of feeling of disrespect. Same with McCoy.

Was any other team shut out of the top 100?

My point was competitive people are always seeking an edge to use as extra motivation regardless of how real or logical. Even the GOAT Tom Brady still uses his draft status to motivate him and he's the most accomplished QB in history and at the top of his game.

Mike Evans had a single 100 yard game last year. He didn't have a game with multiple touchdowns or a game with more than seven catches.

He was rightfully not on the list.

So make the case that a guy with 25 catches, 300 yards and 3 TDs being one of the top 100 players of last year. Or a guy with 15 tackles, no sacks, INTs, forced fumbles being one of the best players last season. GO!
