From what I've heard they're worthless. We basically gave Jepsen away for nothing.

Sad to see Matt Moore look this bad. You only hope it's rust coming off Tj surgery and not permanent. Sonetimes guys don't recover from that surgery, particularly from a mental standpoint.

How long does it take to shake off rust then? He's been in the majors for over a month...and he's yet to even have a non-terrible start. Seriously, he's been nothing short of atrocious...he hasn't even last more then 5 innings yet or given up less then 4 runs. I understand that there's a lot of things when coming back from TJS(especially the mental aspect) but if he doesn't improve soon, we need to pull the plug on him this season. His arm looks like a noodle, with not even a hint of his past velocity, and his already weak control has gotten worse. I'm really hoping that Matt Moore can come back, and I'm hoping that maybe it is rust, or that we just brought him back too soon.

Anyone see the Schafer HR celebration...at first I almost felt bad for the guy until you realized that it was part of the dugout's prank.

Rays are playing good baseball right now. But gonna be hard to catch a Toronto team that seems inspired after their FO made moves to go for the gold instead of pulling the plug.

Forget about the East

It's all about the WC - 2.5 out currently - we should be in it until the end

And Cash yanking Erasmo after almost 70pc is a ****ing joke....this bullpen is already on fumes....Have to make starters get you as much as possible

I'll eat my crow on Joe Maddon. I didn't think he'd make it with the Cubs. But gotta give credit where credit is due.....like him or hate him, he's proving himself as one of the best in the game. What a year they're having.

I know some don't like him for leaving here, but if ownership told you they weren't going to spend any money to get to the next level and you had a chance to go to a team who would spend the money, what option are you going to choose? Seriously.

Hopefully we can pull off a win tonight. I know it's obvious but we have a BIG chance to make up some wild card ground coming in the next 30 days. A few series sweeps and we might be able to pull it off. Or at the very least keep the Yanks and O's out of it. So long as we play our best baseball of the year we stand a reasonable chance of making the playoffs.

Something tells me we're gonna be for a WILD ride.

If we DO make it.... Cash for MOTY

It's not so much just the number of games back we are, it's the number of teams we still need to jump over....4. Not to mention the teams right on our tail. You're gonna have to play ridiculously good baseball the last 30 or so games and hope the teams in front of us and around us lose a lot more than we do. Not impossible, but highly, highly unlikely.

This Rays team has way overachieved this year. I thought they were a 75 win team with 3/4 of a season from Cobb, McGee and Smyly, and at least something from Matt Moore. They've gotten basically 50 combined innings from those guys all season. Also, the lineup they trotted out last night had no less than 3 guys that bad teams said 'No thanks' and DFA'd this season. No idea how this team is .500 based on that, other than some really surprising years from Erasmo Ramirez, Jake Odorizzi, and even Archer, who has been mentioned as a top 10 starter at times this season. Also, Kevin Cash might just have the goods. If we get something close to full seasons from our core starters and one more lineup upgrade... this team could be back to a legit contender for the division.

As far as this year goes... enjoy it while it lasts. They are playing interesting September baseball which is all we can really ask of the club this season.

About two months ago I would have used the word "overachieve", but the past couple months have been so bad I'm starting to lean more towards underachieve now. This is not a good way to go into the offseason. I'm hoping we can finish strong the last two weeks, but too many of our so-called "best players" are anything but right now. Oh, and bullpen is complete ****. Shoulda kept Jepsen and dump Boxberger. I guess this is what I get for going to Vegas and thinking the Over on 81 was a bargain bet. Thought I had it in the bag halfway through the season.

Also, doesn't help the sting that our old manager is taking a laughing stock of a franchise and turned them into maybe the best team in baseball (hmmm....that sounds familiar.)

I said it this past offseason, it'll be a looooong time until we're the Rays from 2008-2013 again.

I'm having a hard time looking for anything positive for the future. Longoria looks done. Matt Moore looks done. We have a couple of nice MLBers and a couple of solid prospects, but that's it, but every other MLB team has the same thing.

I'll agree with you with saying the Cubs have been a bad franchise for the past few years, but this years Cubs aren't like years before. They have serious talent. Talent that was already there before Maddon got to Chicago. I believe the Cubs could have been successful with a different coach. Probably not as successful, but still in the playoff hunt.

I can't think of the time when Maddon had all that talent one in team while he was in Tampa.
