Dempsey retires from Seattle and USMNT effective immediately

It seems fitting to me that he ends tied with LD for most goals for US

I'd have been cool with one more. I always loved Dempsey's grit, but it's time.

Looking forward to that record getting eclipsed with the young guns that are coming up now.

Can you imagine if we had a truly great #10? LD played on the wing for a lot of his career...and Dempsey played withdrawn (and also out wide). A great striker could easily get to 70+ goals considering what we play against in WC qualifying.

Lots of the young'uns coming up too are more of the attacking mid type. Maybe Weah will play up top most of his career?

----------

Edit -- I've often went back and forth between DL and Dempsey as to who I have valued more / liked more as a USMNT player.

My all-time US favorites:

1.) John O'Brien
2.) Brian McBride
3.) Steve Cherundolo
4.) Carlos Bocanegra
5.) LD

(CP will be on that list soon)

Yedlin had a really nice first touch goal to level the game against City at ~30 minutes.

It's too early for me to get excited about it but 6 weeks and 6-0 feels great. I don't know if it's ironic or just will of the Gods that we play Chelsea twice in the next few days

Modric won player of the year. Last 10 have been won by Messi or CR7.

Good for him. Last one who wasn't one of those two was Kaka, right?

Note: that's not an indictment to West Ham either. They started poor out of the gate but there's so much football left to play that you can't even say Man U lost to such inferior competition. It's that when you're Man U a 3-1-3 start isn't going to be seen as good enough

It's hard to watch United anymore. I got away to watch the 2nd half of this Champions League game and it's been crap. Boring. Uninspired. Passing is for ****. Only a few guys run hard.

Ugh.

Hide your stash Outie. Zarniwoop is gonna be blazing all afternoon. What a game Man U had against Newcastle.

Sad to say but you had to know it was coming once Alexis scored.

I was out riding dirtbikes yesterday morning. Saw 2-0 in the 50th minute then didn’t look again. Shocked they won

Apparently John Terry is going to be on his staff. From what I hear anyway.

Interesting to see Titi following in Wenger's footsteps.

I think John Terry the player was a ****. But a good player and a smart defender. If he isn't ****ing his player's wives he could be a decent coach.

I mean he's no Ryan Giggs in any of those categories, but he could be pretty decent.
