Ha! I know, right?

Actually my Knicks fandom predates ALL my sports team fandoms...even FSU...

Became a Knock fan in 1987...we had a scrappy, but not so good team that (somehow) made the playoffs...

Didn't become a Nole until '88...

Born and lived in Johnstown PA until I was 12..then moved out into the boondocks of Western PA where I consider myself to have been raised...

Not really a Mecca for hoops those parts...

An Orlando fan since before they tipped off for the first time, I'm really thinking about giving them up.

But do I root for the home team?

Pick a player and root for them? Not sure which way to go. If this is the way, those two methods would probably land on the same result.

I have no real tie to Orlando. Started off on a whim, I kept it up for 30 years. But that ****ing team... they might be more soul sucking than the other two I root for, and that says a lot.

You can use a various set of criteria:

History:

Lakers/Celtics are the most consistent powers over time.
Spurs have been consistent since the 90s, but have fallen off.

Contenders:
Warriors are the best right now.
Rockets play a fun brand of basketball.
76ers are on the rise.
Raptors have Kawhi now and doesn't have to go through LeBron.

Good Teams, but not really contenders:
OKC has Westbrook/Paul.
Bucks have the greek freak.
Nuggets are a good team with no superstars.

Not a chance in hell any team wins except the Warriors. This is the most anticlimactic season since Jordan’s Bulls.

I started getting back in to the NBA a little when in Houston. Went to a few games. Saw the Westbrook / Hardin battle.

Really never liked the Lakers.

Now I'm conflicted ... watching Ball suffer is fun, yet I'm still not in the Lebron camp.

No trade

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat advanced to the brink of a blockbuster trade for All-Star forward Jimmy Butler over the weekend -- only for the deal to fracture before completion, league sources told ESPN.

lmao I remember thinking this comment from Tristan Thompson was one of the dumbest, least self-aware comments I'd heard in a while back in september when I read it:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/24815653/tristan-thompson-sees-lebron-less-cavs-team-beat-east

The Cleveland Cavaliers may not have LeBron James this season, but Tristan Thompson says they remain the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.

"We're still four-time Eastern Conference champions, so until you take us down from that, teams ain't got much to say. Boston, Philly, they ain't got much to say," Thompson told reporters on Thursday. "Boston had homecourt Game 7 and lost. Philly, you guys almost got swept. Toronto -- we already know that story. So until someone takes us down, there's not much they can really say."

lol. dude. you lost lebron. you're not even remotely the same team wtf are you smoking

now today:

This is a good article showing how dominant and efficient Curry has been.

He's easily the greatest shooter of all time.

I'm gonna follow up that post with this one because I hate the Warriors.

James Harden is up to 35.4 ppg this year. Only 5 players in NBA history have averaged 35 ppg over a full season- Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Rick Barry, Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain.

He scored 58 last night to go with 57 on Monday. He became the second player ever behind Chamberlain to have back-to-back 55-point games. He's now the NBA's active leader in 50-point games.

He's scored at least 30 in 18 straight games, the longest streak since Chamberlain's 20 in 1964. And he's scored and assisted on 50 points in each of those games, the longest streak in NBA history.

Harden is having a crazy run.

That article just pointing out Curry's historic deep shot efficiency, which is something the NBA has never seen before. He's shooting almost 46% from 3 and will break every 3 point record in the next 4-5 years. Curry isn't playing better than Harden, he's more efficient, but not better.

Harden is going to win MVP, he's been a monster. I try to watch Harden, because what he's doing is historic, but I just can't stomach his "travel", how he seeks fouls, etc. It's everything I don't like about the game right now. He's playing within the "rules" and he's killing it taking advantage of it, but it's not fun to watch IMO.

Well, we're obviously going to disagree on almost all of those points. Probably shouldn't get into it.

I'm just glad most are coming around on Harden. I'm loving watching the games and listening to all of the NBA podcasts right now. He also has a different attitude this year. I think winning the MVP last year really freed him up to do whatever he wants and not worry about what people are saying.

It's fine for us not to agree his style and how we appreciate it, but he's the MVP and best player right now and it's not close.

The Rockets were not playing well and Harden decided to go 2006 Kobe and carry them on his back.

Harden is garbage... :D

I'm with USC, he is very hard to watch because he plays the game like he is in the EPL, always diving and over-reacting to minimal contact.

Also, if I shot the ball eleventy billion times, I'd average 50+ too.

I'll always be a hater....
