AAF starts this weekend. They’ve released their rule book. Pretty awesome. Guarantee the NFL adopts some of the stuff.

Competition is a great thing

Go Apollos

The SA/SD game is amazing. Great energy.

The lack of commercials is great!

Darren Rovell: BREAKING: After week one, the new football league, the AAF, essentially sold off the entire league to Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon. Dundon puts in $250 million.

The AAF missed payroll in Week 1. They told agents that it was a glitch with switching to a new administrator. They told players would be paid by today the latest.

I tend to believe the glitch story. Most likely, they have a decent line of credit from the banks in place that will pay their bills at least for this first season.

Report: With $250 million pledge not yet invested, Dallas billionaire Tom Dundon could stop funding AAF at any time

By Scott Bell, Assistant Sports Editor Contact Scott Bellon Twitter:@ScottBellDMN

Dallas billionaire and Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon, who earlier this week pledged a $250 million investment into the Alliance of American Football, has not yet formally invested that money into the league and has only "committed" to fund that amount over an undisclosed period of time, according to a report by Sports Business Daily.

Dundon's commitment allowed him to serve as chairman of the fledgling eight-team league that began play Feb. 9. His involvement came together in a matter of days last week, according to Dundon and Alliance co-founder Charlie Ebersol, though Dundon had been monitoring the AAF's development and debut.

Ebersol dismissed reports earlier this week that the Alliance was getting a financial bailout from Dundon.

Two sources told Sports Business Daily that Dundon can stop funding if he decides the investment is no longer worth it.

"I have committed to investing $250 million into the Alliance of American Football," Dundon told Sports Business Daily through an AAF spokesperson. "We now have the necessary capital to accelerate growth. We have the capital to make this a sustainable and profitable league."

Sports Business Daily reports, citing multiple sources, that Dundon's agreement was "week-to-week" and that Dundon could stop funding on a moment's notice.

Dundon also is the co-founder of Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, home of the PGA Tour's AT&T Byron Nelson tournament; the majority owner of Employer Direct Healthcare, a health care services company; and a primary investor in Topgolf, a sports entertainment company.

The Alliance has teams in Atlanta; Phoenix; San Diego; San Antonio; Memphis, Tennessee; Birmingham, Alabama; Orlando, Florida; and Salt Lake City. It will play a 10-week schedule before its playoffs, finishing on the final weekend of April.

Early response on TV -- it has deals with CBS, Turner and NFL Network -- and digitally was positive, Ebersol said earlier this week.

The AAF is one of a number of "alternative" professional football teams either starting up or scheduled to start up over the next few years. Vince McMahon's XFL, which will have a team in Arlington coached by former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, is slated to start play in 2020.

Lewis: “Before we get there. Hack….Hack’s about 50 percent [laughs]”

Flanagan: “[inaudible] say that on TV coach, I got you. We’re not on TV, we’re on Bleacher Report. It’s different.”

Woodson: “Ahh nobody’s watching, nobody cares, no one’s listening.”

This was during a game. He's not wrong.
