Terrible news. I don't know if I would call it an unimaginable tragedy but I sure as hell didn't imagine Doc going out that way.

Peace to him and his family.

Terrible news. Met the guy at spring training years ago. Signed an autograph for my boy. He was a genuinely nice guy. The sad thing was I never knew he still lived here until today.

Blessings to his family.

Doc was a legend here in Toronto. I remember going to one of his last starts as a Jay when we knew he was going to be traded. He was magnificent and the crowd was electric. Without a doubt my fondest in stadium experience as a Jays fan.

Remember him very well...I will never understand the fascination with being a pilot...or owning a gun.

Of course you won't.

Flying gave me a similar feeling to surfing...though not to the extent that surfing does.

It's existential. Difficult to explain but anyone who has flown or surfed or has done ANYTHING that gives them that "feeling" knows what I'm talking about. It's not an "adrenaline rush"...it's more spiritual than that.

And the next time your wife or your job stresses you out or pisses you off, go to a gun range and fire 20 or so rounds off. It's the wonder drug that works wonders...

Completely agree Alpha. There is that feeling. It could be surfing as you say (and I have never done), or scuba diving, or mountain climbing, or whatever.

But now...

Is this in like a minute, or what?
