Summer Olympics 2028- Los Angeles

Postby Bootz2004 » Mon Jul 31, 2017 1:42 pm

It will have been 32 years since the Summer Olympics were held in the U.S. but the IOC and the city of LA have reached an agreement to host the 2028 games. Paris will host the 2024 Olympics. Tokyo is already preparing for the Olympic games in 2020.

Not likely.

I lived in Atlanta during the Olympics there (1996). Traffic (and Atlanta has NOTORIOUSLY bad traffic) was a non-factor. In fact, DRIVING was a breeze.

Basically, they scared the **** out of everyone from driving...and turned MARTA (the "subway") into a shit-show. Thus...the roads were (relatively) non-congested.

Outside of the opening and closing ceremonies, the events will be so spread out, there will be very little opportunity for traffic to congregate in one general locale. I seriously doubt their traffic will be much worse than it already is...

At least Atlanta has that. I think the only public transportation in LA are the bus lines, and they're used by the homeless to get out of the sun.

LOL!

There is a reason why I put the term "subway" in quotes.

It really isn't one, in the traditional sense.

For example: MARTA didn't go directly to the Olympic Stadium (which is now Turner Field, where the Braves play). If you've ever been to a Braves game, you take MARTA to a downtown rail station (5 Points) and then take a bus to connect to the stadium.

It's basically a worthless, cluster-fuck.

Oh...I haven't lived there in a few years. I'm speaking about how it was during the Olympics.

Where exactly is the new baseball stadium?

SunTrust Park is a baseball park located in the Atlanta metropolitan area 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta in the Cumberland neighborhood of Cobb County

I believe South Africa should have hosted 2028 in Durban...Don't know why they didn't bid...although they are hosting the commonwealth games...maybe 2032 in South Africa or Kenya...or A middle eastern country or Russia...distribute it around....

At least it'll be easier to get to.

And that's saying something...

"Easier" in the sense that your only option is to drive. MLB allows them to start their home games at 730p, as opposed to the standard 7p, because traffic is so fucked.

Yeah. Where that stadium is now would be a driving nightmare...but **** me...the **** you had to do to get to a Braves game back in the day was ****ing ridiculous.
