Hi, Buccaneers, and Rays Baseball fans! :) Single game tickets for both Spring Training Games and Regular Season Games at Tropicana Field began on sale earlier Friday, as our Tampa Bay Rays begin and commence their 19th season in both Major League Baseball and the American League in February.

Rookies and veterans report 100 miles south from Tampa (85 miles from St. Petersburg) down Interstate 75 to Charlotte Sports Ballpark in Port Charlotte on February 22, to begin their Spring Training. Rays first of 18 scheduled Spring Training home games is just three days later, as they host the Pittsburgh Pirates at Charlotte Sports Park on February 25.

At least five of the upcoming scheduled Spring Training homegames at Charlotte Sports Ballpark includes rivals and opponents in the American League East Division, including three with the Boston Red Sox, and two with the New York Yankees. One home game is an exhibition with the Columbian National Team.

Rays begin their regular season, and first of 162 MLB regular season games, when they open a seven-game homestand back up north at The Trop when they host the New York Yankees in the first of three games with New York on April 2, followed by a four-game home series with the Toronto Blue Jays from April 6 through 9, before they travel up the coast northeast to play both the Yankees and Red Sox on their home openers.

Rays seek to improve from their 68-94 and fifth place finish in the American League East Division Standings in 2017, and return back to the postseason and back to the World Series, since they lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 4 games to 1, after achieving their franchise and club-best 97 wins and 65 loss season, and also both their American League Eastern Division, and American League Championships, during their 2008 MLB season.

Expectations are high for Spring Training, and the long 162- game enduring regular season marathon for this year's Tampa Bay Rays. Rays owner Steve Sternberg, Team President Brian Auld, and Rays Manager Steve Cash, will try to field the best Rays 25-man roster for each game. If our Rays win the 2017 World Series, they will be the second MLB team to win the Commissioner's Trophy in Florida, and the first MLB Championship since the Marlins won in The Sunshine State in 2003.

So Fire Those Cannons, Shout Out Ozzie, Siege The Day, It's A Ray's Life, and LET'S GO RAYS!!!!! ;) 8-) TAMPA......... BAY!!!!!!!! :P :D :D :D :D :D

So, we traded Smyly lol

Funny thing is...this is the opposite of what Rays used to be. We have offense and no pitching. Used to be we had no offense but great pitching. We're not a terrible team though.

And apparently Erik Neander is the new GM in place of Matt Silverman or so he was announced as such on the radio

As for the trade I find it laughable that we go for yet ANOTHER damn shortstop when we already have guys like Adames, Duffy and Beckham either playing now or in the system. The 17 year old Vargas will need a few years to develop and the players we have now like Duffy and Beckham may not all be with us in a few years. However if we ever put as much emphasis the fixing rest of the infield we did at shortstop we wouldn't be forced to make a yearly merry-go-round of signing the Casey Kotchman's, Wilson Ramos' and Logan Morrison's of the world at 1B and C every single year.

If JJ Schawz is available at the time of the 4th pick we need to take him. No questions, no exceptions no more games.

In 2017, we could see Honeywell, Gillaspie, Robertson, newly required Yarbrough, and maybe Bauers all make their big league debut. We have talent in farm system. I'm excited to see these guys play.

What's wrong with Wilson Ramos? Best catcher we've ever had on paper

That he might be but how long is he gonna stick around? I'm gonna be honest man, the Rays are doing their damnedest to field a winning team but what's the BEST we are gonna get? In my most optimistic approach we just crack .500 and if overachieve and do better it's gonna be just enough for even a wild card play in game

I'll be SHOCKED if we even are good enough to be a .500 team.

Forsythe traded to Dodgers for RHP prospect Jose De Leon.

I like the trade. De Leon looks to be the truth and some of our shortstops will now be able to play 2nd base.

Wish the best for Logan. Came out of nowhere.

I like making the trade for De Leon but he might as well take the year in AAA unless he's absolutely ready to make the jump. The Rays are gonna be lucky to win any more than they did last year.

I'm not so sure about him in AAA. With only 4 in the rotation, I'd rather give the kid a chance and have Andriese in the bullpen.

Plus, Cobb or (less likely now) Archer could be traded as well. Making more opportunities for JDL and eventually, Honeywell.

Rays might not look good on the record side in 2017, but we're headed in the right direction. Maybe could use one more year.

Off topic, but I think this year is big for Souza jr. With KK and now Smith, they can basically cover the entire outfield. We rely on Souza's bat. He needs to stay healthy and raise his average.

We are going to suck this year. And until we get rid of Cash and get a real manager.

I've heard a lot of chatter on Odorizzi getting moved. If that happens, we will definitely have De Leon up at some point.

What's the Rays' fan consensus on Chris Carter? In favor of the potential move or nah? Would there even be a point? I'm not too caught up on what the team has been doing with the roster, I've just been seeing the Carter chatter on MLB Network.

He's like Pena. HR or bust. Wouldn't hate the move, but I don't think he should consistently be in the lineup.

Might as well get Carter if we can but I'm not gonna get my hopes up until it happens. It would be nice to have 35 HR power to back up Longoria

Carter hits moonshots, strikes out, or walks. Leaving Miller Park for the Trop might hurt his power, but it might be overblown since when he connects, it usually goes 440 feet.

Truth be told I'm not holding my breath on Carter. I'd rather just wait until he signs before I think any more about it

Carter signed with the Yankees. All it took was $3 million. I don't know if I should be upset or what

We can't afford another 30%+ strike out guy who can't play defense. That's not how this team is built...

Won't lose any sleep over Carter. Dude would have hit 30 bombs and set an MLB record for strikeouts while hitting 30 points below his playing weight.

I do reserve the right to bitch when he hits 6 bombs against us this year, though.

Ever since they traded for Wil Myers and let him go I don't think they've even known how this team is built anymore. It sure isn't through the draft.

We're close to signing former Yankees/Marlins pitcher Nathan Eovaldi. He will miss all of 2017 recovering from TJS.

So we need a bat but instead spend money on a pitcher who can't play this year. Lol

I liked Eovaldi when he was with the Marlins. Never quite lived up to his potential but he throws hard and is still pretty young. I hope his rehab goes well and he has success whenever he makes it back to the bigs.
