Strong series against the Yanks. If this team is still playing this way they BETTER be stocking the bullpen at the deadline.

Just as long as we trade for another shortstop.

I'd move Miller back to SS and keep Robertson playing at 2nd.

Meh.

This is what it is. I ****ing LIVE HERE...and nobody gives a **** about this year's team OR the franchise, for that matter. The owner is a carpet-bagging, cheap sumbitch that gives exactly ZERO shits about this franchise or the Tampa Bay area. He runs this team on the cheap...and we have what we have. An 80 win team...unless injuries happen.

I wish, hope and pray Jeter, Jeb and the boys can put together a strong enough bid to buy the Devil Rays and make us relevant again.

And **** yeah...I said DEVIL Rays.

Jeter and Jeb are looking to buy the Marlins, not us. Sternberg Would probably move the team first before attempting to sell it.

9,000 people the last 3 or 4 games. How the hell is Stu supposed to do anything with that? Cheap tickets, free merch every night, student specials and we can't even muster 20,000 unless the Yankees or Sox are in town. And even then it still doesn't sellout. Our fanbase is ****ing terrible Alpha. Granted, the Trop is a dump and it's out of the way of like 70% of the population of all Rays fans.... everyone has essentially given up the commute in favor of just watching the game on TV.

The Rays need to get the hell out of St. Pete...... like 7 years ago.

I've heard this argument before.

The stadium needs to go...and it is. It's old.

Now...where? The ONLY obvious answer is downtown Tampa. ANYWHERE else...and you have the same "population problem" you have in St. Pete. Orlando people are NOT driving during the week to watch this team.

So...where ya gonna put it?

I've heard the Fairgrounds. LOL! Good luck with that. You lose ALL of Pinellas Co. if you put it there. There...you're absolutely BANKING on Orlando to provide 10,000 fans a night. During the week. Sure.

The games draw on the weekend...it's DURING THE WEEK, where they're having issues. There's been talk of Oldsmar. ****ing Oldsmar.

I'm dying to see where this stadium ends up. I wouldn't be shocked if it were downtown St. Pete, if they can't find room in downtown Tampa. The city of Tampa and Vinick need to carve out some space in the Channelside area.

Make it happen!!!!

Unfortunately for Pinellas County putting the ballpark at the Fairgrounds is still closer in mileage than the distance of Tropicana Field from both my childhood home and adult home. 40 miles in the home I grew up in and now 50+ miles in the home I rent from. The struggle has been real. And I sympathize with fans who would have to go the same distance. But the truth of the matter is that St. Pete has had almost 20 years to take this team in and it's not gonna happen. Wherever they move it I'm skeptical of St. Pete's contributions anyway. It's about 7 or 8 miles from Amalie Arena to the Fairgrounds. I've been hiking 40 to 50 miles each way for Rays games to 10 years now. Rays fans in Pinellas can take my word in that I know how they'd feel. But we have to stick with what we know.

What do we know Alpha?

You and I both are probably the biggest Lightning fans on the boards. We both know full and well if Amalie was not renovated again the Lightning would still be drawing 19,204 a night against anyone. And we both know that figure would exceed 20,000+ when a team like the New York Rangers are in town on a Tuesday and starting prices at nosebleeds are $60+ a pop. What do the Yankees on a Tuesday in St. Pete draw? About 16,000 if the Rays are lucky? Yet in 2010 that bitch was sold out. Today Rays are lucky if they get 25,000 from a Yankee game on the weekend. Given the fact the LAA don't even draw 10,000 It's very safe to assume that Hillsborough is doing a lot of heavy lifting in any sellout figure. Simply put we know downtown is by far the best option. St. Pete has hijacked the project for long enough. Mayor Foster did his due diligence to delay the move to Tampa because he didn't want to damage the St. Pete economy by losing the Rays. I get that. I really do. It's a necessary evil but St. Pete wasn't gonna pay for a new park anyway and all it did was provide scorched earth and piss off MLB. I want downtown Tampa but I have no idea where they're gonna put it.

But again.... what do we know Alpha? It's gonna be a BITCH finding a place to put that stadium near Tampa.

It's gonna sound like I'm advocating for the fairgrounds but I'm really not. If there's room in Channelside then do it but there's NO WAY that happens without Vinik. I agree about getting him involved. However I'm a little hesitant to think of what his participation will be like. It's a Tuesday in early May, Lightning are in the playoffs vs Montreal but the Red Sox are in town. The choice of what game to go to is CLEARLY obvious but it presents a conflict of interest for Vinik. But what do we know???

Thankfully it's that we know full and damn well there's gonna be enough people to fill Amalie and the Red Sox fans are gonna come to the Rays game unless the Lightning are facing the Bruins. It'll be a lopsided crowd but it's still money in the Rays pockets. The Lightning being in the playoffs is a DAMN good excuse for Rays fans to not show up. What else do we know?

We know land space standpoint that's gonna arguably be the biggest issue. Fortunately it lies in close proximity to an incredibly faithful Lightning population then I think 7 miles on 1-4 is a relatively small sacrifice. You've got the Hard Rock hotel and casino nearby, you're gonna have all new the bars and restaurants that would be built in response to a new Rays ballpark and all our tourist traps (think Busch Gardens) are within half an hour's drive along 275. Families from Plant City, Lakeland, Brandon and Orlando would be ****ing NUTS to not spend the weekend here or even stay here for the weekend.

Holy **** I've written a book. I'm gonna stop now

Simply put... the Fairgrounds would be a death sentence for support from Pinellas but the hard fact is that it's a county of almost damn near a million people that have had the Rays for almost 20 years and they've proven that the best they're gonna give us is 9,000 a night whenever a team like the LAA come to town. **** em!

Hillsborough alone would probably do 15,000 on that Tuesday in early May against the LAA (nevermind the NYY or Red Sox) without the Lightning in the playoffs at all and that number would routinely double on the weekends against any team at all.

So we jumped to the early lead. Bull pen blew (80) it. And now the offense has battled back for extra innings. We seriously need to make a move for pen help. If we could get a strong 7-8 guy, we are a scary team.

I hate to sound fatalistic but a decision is going to have to be made between Duffy and Beckham. Now personally I take a "Why not both?" approach and say maybe move either of the to 2nd or 1st base but if the Rays get a wild hair up their ass they could always trade Beckham for bullpen help.

He had that nice out at 1st on a bad throw. But yeah.

Is Duffy back yet? Is he going to be? I'd be fine moving one of them for a good relief pitcher. Beckham is always just a reminder to me that we don't have Buster Posey.

We need a 5th starter and a reliever. Erasmo can be our main middle reliever and a good guy to get us through the 7th/8th and we'll see a huge jump on the standings.

Swash...I feel ya. I don't know a damn thing.

But I DO know that Stewie Sternberg is a ****ing bum, carpet-bagging, couldn't-care-less, "owner" who only cares about his bottom line. I could compare and contrast him and Vinick all day long but what's the point?

Plain and simple...I'm old enough to remember the Tampa Bay Rowdies and Bandits drawing nearly the same gate as the Buccaneers, back in the day. I lived in Atlanta for 17 years and saw the same type of thing.

This isn't Boston, New York or Chicago. Baseball (and all pro sports in Tampa for that matter), are a relatively new phenomenon. I GREW UP HERE...and I'm a FIRST generation supporter of professional sports in Tampa Bay. We don't have the multi-generational support that other cities have. It takes TIME. A long time. Hell...my old man has lived in Tampa Bay as long as I have (obviously...and I'm nearing 50 years old!) but he was born in Miami. He's a fan of the Dolphins. NEVER a Buc fan. I didn't even grow up with professional baseball. We'd cut school and go watch spring training games from time to time...but there were no local teams to care about. Jesus Christ...I didn't even pay attention to baseball until a local guy (Doc Gooden) started tearing it up for the Mets...and that was back in the early days of cable TV, where the only teams you could watch (on a nightly basis) were the Braves, Cubs or Mets.

Bottom line is this: UNLESS they put the stadium in a readily accessible place (for EVERY DAY Tampa residents) to fill the stadium during the WEEK, this area will NEVER support the team, UNLESS they are winning. That's the way it's always been...and for another generation or two...that's the way it's gonna remain. Put the new stadium at the Fairgrounds, Downtown St. Pete., Oldsmar...wherever...won't matter. The one thing I can assure you is that IF "ownership" is counting on Orlando (or Pant City, LMAO!) residents to make up for the loss of Pinellas Co. residents (again...on a week-night basis), by putting this stadium in the Fairgrounds area...they are ****ing HIGH.

Reading about the upcoming series with the Rangers. Interesting to get NON-LOCAL opinions on this team.

All you hear about LOCALLY, is how much this team strikes out. And they damn sure do. Gonna set a Major League record for it.

Interesting to read that they also lead the league in walks.

Go figure.

Honestly...this is a tough team to figure out...and I'm not sure how to reconcile them.

Amongst the league leaders in Walks, ERA, scoring. About the league average in Batting average.

HOW can that team be a .500 team?

You have fantastic starting pitching and produce runs. WTF!?

The bullpen is a problem (outside of our closer...who is lights out...look at tonight's win as an example). We are gonna get healthier (especially at Catcher). And WTF is up with Duffy (as a previous poster asked)??? Is this "great" player ever gonna play? Our defense is questionable (WTF happened to Kiermeyer)?

Morrison, Dickerson and TIM F'ING BECKHAM are having career years! If Longoria get's his **** together, we could be a powerhouse. Unfortunately...this just feels like a .500 team.

SAD.

The problem is 100% the bullpen. Yeah, the defense has been shaky at times but a few days ago they threw up a stat that we've had and lost the lead in 19 games. 19! Even if you just make 10 of those wins, what a difference.

Well...when your ****ing payroll is 50 MIL (or whatever the crappy number is)...you're gonna have that type of problem.

And it's not "100% the bullpen". I'd say a lot of it has to do with our starters not going 6 innings regularly. NO bullpen is gonna be lights out when they have to go 3-4 innings a night.

Have to admit...it's kinda nice to see us produce runs. It's been forever since we've had a team that does it like this. Unfortunately, that doesn't hold up when you face quality pitching. It'll win us some games and keep us in contention for a playoff spot...but that's about it.

And Corey ****ing Dickerson! I guess he can do it when NOT playing in Colorado! Dude has been tearing it up...

Some of it has to do with starting pitching not going deep. But archer is averaging around 6 innings per, Cobb 6.5 and Andreiese 5.5.

And when they've left the game, usually there's a lead. No, they won't be lights out every night but damn we've blown 15 or so leads.

You're right though, it is nice to see runs being scored. And now they are starting to show they can battle back at the end of the game not just jump ahead at the start.

A few nice outings over the weekend; but we've GOT to get middle inning production.

Dickerson has been playing with his hair on fire, Souza looked good, hell, even KK is getting some quality at bats of late.

But JFC it seems like at least once per inning the guys coming outta th pen toss a ****ing meatball out there. And get punished for it.

Found the dugout antics pretty amusing Sunday night...
