Why?

If first, second, and third are 3,4, and 5, why would you go left to right with the outfield?

Like I'm the one that designated them. **** if I know.

And as for your next post, I went with the snarky answer that I did know because, truth be told, I have no idea about the answer to the question you meant to ask. I don't know if it's a double play, or an out and a caught stealing. My guess is the latter, but that's just a guess because the runner is still standing on the bag when the original out is made, and then tries to swipe an extra one after the fact.

Kind of like - well, sort of like - how a strike him out, throw him out, is not a 1-2-4/6 double play. It's a strikeout and caught stealing.

I hope Corey Dickerson has some advil in his locker because he's going to catch a Vargy fastball in the ribs to open up the bottom of the 1st. That was some bush league crap last night.

9-2 double playassuming you're talking about a flyball out to RF, who then gets the runner tagging up). I guess you could score it F9-2 (fly out), but that's really up to you. It's not caught stealing. He was tagging up, not stealing.

And LF is 7 because SS is 6.

You were right, Dickerson did need Advil for his ribs. For that HR theft over the short wall!

Despite only allowing 4 hits and 1 run in 6 innings...Odorizzi takes the loss....and we lose 6-0.

Our offense is so ****ing inconsistent, and our bullpen is....just pure terribleness.

Cobb pitching really well through five.

For the love of God, let him pitch the complete game.

It's not like the bullpen has been blowing 5+ run leads this season..........

This team is pathetic defensively and way below average pitching. That has been this teams identity for years.

We swing the bat a little better than usual. But still super inconsistent. I'm not a Cash fan, I think he's out of his depth. Maddon was the glue that held this team together.

Everything was going nicely before that abortion of a half inning.

I try not to take baseball too seriously as I watch it, because it's just 1 game out of 162. It's not like a football season or, even worse, college football where you have to for the most part be perfect.

But for the love of God. When it happens every.... single.... night..... I am getting fed up with this team. They're not bad players, they are just flat out stupid. I have to put that on the coaching and/or lack of preparation. They don't know how to play the pinball machine that is Fenway (preparation), and even worse do the same stuff in their own home stadium (coaching).

Games like this shouldn't be happening in May.

This time of year, baseball is supposed to be a relaxing affair, you either have the right setup and win handily or you don't and it's not your day.

Dramatic comebacks are for the pennant race. That's what makes this so shitty.

Funny how this team went from pitching and defense under Maddon to now score big early and pray like **** you hold on. That's not good baseball

Thing is I'm not even so upset with 20-22 record. It's how we've gotten it. But it's coupled with the fact that if we had a remotely competent bullpen and even average defensive play we'd have one of the better records in the majors right now. At least 5 wins better and at something like 25-17. We actually have a decent team in place right now but I'll be damned if it does any better than a wildcard play-in or a 3-1 ALDS loss at the rate we're going. At this point I'm just waiting for the bottom to fall out.

We need to be buyers at the trade deadline and load the bullpen/end of rotation starter. But you know we'll probably just trade Cobb or something for two second base prospects.

But agreed about being buyers. Offensively I'm not too worried beyond our constant strikeouts and disastrous RISP performance later in games. But the positive on the offense is that we're routinely executing early and often and so many times we're up 2 and 3 runs in like the 4th inning of so many of our games. That's been our missing piece to a winning formula in the playoffs but unfortunately the other half of it (leaning on a good bullpen to finish the game) is completely gone.

I don't know what's worse. Knowing you're gonna give up 2 runs in the 6th, 3 runs in the 7th and squandering that 5-0 lead you had or the years of trailing 2-1 in the 7th inning and knowing good and damn well we aren't getting that run and in any minute Maddon is gonna start pissing away outs with "small ball" and sending guys like Longoria to steal 2nd base only to get caught.

No how did it go? I didn't get much of a chance outside of listening to the radio in the car and just got home after Morrison extended the score. Since then it's been dinner with the family. Did he cry like a bitch? Please tell me he did.... it's the small things in life that are the most satisfactory.
