Four seasons into his career and only one play off appearance, not the greatest start. First year into that five year mega deal he signed, going to be interesting to see if they will help him achieve anything there. From the way they have been run I don't see them becoming a title contender in that time frame, though they could develop into a borderline play off team. When he hits UFA in 2021 - I know that's a long way off and lots can happen between now and then - but at that point he could end up getting the chance to move to a team that will help him win rings like Garnett, Bosh, LeBron and co did. Shame he's being wasted in New Orleans, but at the same time as the go to guy he's damn entertaining to watch when he's healthy and putting up big games like this.

It's a crime for him to be with a team that bad.

Klay Thompson had 60 points in 29 minutes. Imagine if he played the 4th quarter too.

I didn't think this season could get more embarrassing...then Oakley-gate happened...

**** Dolan...that piece of ****...

And Phil Jackson is sabatoging the hell out of us...once a Bull always a Bull...

Oh how I long for the early/mid 90's and our Glory Days... (at least in my lifetime)..

I know this is entirely anti-narrative. And my post that you quoted should show I am, by no means, a Dolan apologist. But in this instance, Oakley was 100% in the wrong. He was drunk, he was abusive, and he absolutely should have been arrested for what happened.

No doubt...absolutely no doubt...

One of my favorite players..ever..but the guy has some serious issues..

My continuing to dump on Dolan is that, IMO, his incompetence lead to the situation occurring...and it gave him a nice little diversion to sidestep the BS Jackson is pulling/has pulled and allowed all the focus to now be on "Crazy Man Oakley"..

Never mind that NY is still, what, 24-33..something like 80-150 since Phil arrived..

And more importantly, a laughing stock and a circus since he took over in '99..

Speaking of which, they just traded Ibaka to the Raptors for Terrance Ross and a 1st round pick.

I think Aaron Gordon benefits the most from this. I think it will allow him to be an athletic match-up nightmare for opponents as a stretch-4 and he will pair nicely with Vucevic. Gordon struggles at SF but he's too talented to keep of the floor, as was Ibaka (also too expensive). I think the Magic could do some nice things with this transaction.

I think Ross can be a very good SF for the Magic as well. Good trade for both thems, because I think this really strengths the Raptors' front court as well. Makes them much more athletic, plus they have Norman Powell to take more minutes in place of Ross anyway.

1 - You're assuming Vucevic will still be in Orlando.

2 - The Magic took a #2 overall pick and turned it into a 25 overall. ****ing brilliant. Not going to solely blame Hennigan. It seems this team has a particular knack for having a completely inept front office. DeVos can go **** a rake.

Ross and a late 1st was sadly the best we could do for Ibaka since everyone in the league knew we had to get something for him. The terrible decision was to trade for him in the first place. Hennigan completely botched this rebuild and it's time for a new GM to take over the show.

I completely agree with this. I do like the hiring of Frank Vogel but I just don't see a team that's ready to make the next step after 5 years of building. They've got some good, young players in guys like Gordon, Vucevic, Payton and Fournier but it's just not enough.

I liked the Vogel hire too, but I feel like he lost this locker room. The roster that Hennigan built though, was oddly shaped and had nobody that could take a game over. This led to a lot of lineup shuffling and players getting tired of changing roles. Trading Ibaka helps clear things up, so Gordon can go back to the four. But we still have the weird Vucevic/Biyombo duo down low, and it's becoming obvious that Elfrid Payton is not starter material at the point either. This entire team is whack and I hope we continue to make deals as the deadline looms, blow this bad boy up.

That's always the way I saw it too, This Magic team has absolutely no identity. I think what we are seeing is a combination of this Magic team just is not buying what he is selling and a lack of coach Vogel having the kind of players he needs to succeed. I rarely defend a coach who has a team that won't fight for him but Hennigan is responsible for that conundrum. Vogel needs HIS kind of guys or players who are "bought in" enough to where they're going to give an A+ effort every night. And what is Vogel's team identity? A team that says, "come and get it" every time you're on offense and every player going 100% on every play. Vogel's Pacers were such a pain in the ass defensively. I'd have to check but I think both years they went to the Eastern Finals they were top 5 (and #1 in some categories) in points in the paint, defensive rebounds and points given up per game. You had to work for every point you scored against them. This Magic team is not nearly talented enough to do this.

I really, really do think we have the right guy to coach the Magic to a championship. But I agree, this team needs to be completely gutted and blown up. No one should be safe even though I really like Gordon and Vucevic because of the way they can shoot the ball.

I think Aaron Gordon should be the most "untouchable" player on the roster. But I'd totally trade him for an All Star player. (Yes, I know it won't happen, just saying I'm only open to moving him for an all star). I think Vucevic should definitely be on the trade block, he's been the best player on our team for the past five years yes but we've been bottom dwelling trash the entire time. He's a support role type player and by the time we build a team that can compete, his prime could likely be over. I'm not against moving him for more assets right now. I get the feeling that the Magic will likely be acquiring a new PG soon, just kind of hope it's not Reggie Jackson but it probably will be. One last turd of a present from Rob Hennigan.
