MLB Playoffs: Predictions and Stuff

Postby mightyleemoon » Wed Oct 05, 2016 9:50 am

So, who do you got? Given how no pitching seems to be able to contain the Sox...I have to go with them. Yea, October bats have a tendency to cool some. But, I think they'll be the team to beat in the playoffs this year. Also, I get a pit in my stomach typing "Cubs beat Mets"...given how the Mets have dominated the Cubs since last October. But, with their rotation decimated, the Cubs seem like the choice....even if I feel like I'm jinxing it just by typing it.

Wild Card
Mets beat Giants

Division Series
Blue Jays beat Rangers
Red Sox beat Indians
Dodgers beat Nationals
Cubs beat Mets

Championship Series
Red Sox beat Blue Jays
Cubs beat Dodgers

Epstein World Series
Red Sox beat Cubs

I think you're underestimating what the Mets would do with their 2nd chance.

Probably not. But if they lose to the Giants and MLB lets them advance anyway, I think they'll have extra motivation.

Cubs win it all, heaping even more scorn on the Rays ownership for allowing Maddon to walk.

So let's pretend you are cool with the fixed typo and they beat the Giants and advance like I think they will.

I'm nervous as **** about the Mets because of last year. But, the rotation as is just doesn't make me as nervous as the group that began the year. Maybe I'm still underestimating the Mets...but it feels like they don't really have the pitching to make it happen without their regular stable.

Their depleted rotation definitely scared the hell out of me. I was happy as hell Lugo and Gsellman were able to contribute and pitch at the level they did. But you cannot expect one of them to keep it up, let alone both. And with Syndergaard pitching the wild card game, you only get him once in the series. The Mets were running on fumes far too long this year. They lost 3/4 of their starting infield. Then lost one of their replacement infield starters. And 60% of their starting rotation. And that's not even counting Wheeler, who was supposed to return mid year. You're absolutely right - they just would not have had the horses to make another long playoff run this season.

Red Sox over Indians was the only one I felt really confident about.

I don't think they have a good chance against him in any game. But, if this goes to 7, I like their second chance at Hill.

Zobrist. Of all people it had to be him. I hate how much irony I've had to witness. Chicago just won a championship on the backs of the Tampa Bay Lightning and now I gotta watch one of our best guys and our manager deliver that city even more glory. It's not over yet but I imagine it's gotta be close.

Trust me I get not winning it for 108 years but for the city that had the monsters of the midway, Jordan and now a modern day hockey dynasty it's not like they had nothing along the way.
