**************OFFICIAL Lighting Playoffs Thread

Postby Kress » Wed Apr 13, 2016 3:46 pm

Here we go... Time to fire this thing up.

Some questions about who will be out there tonight. Johnson as listed as "game time" but I think that is more accurately "gamesmanship." Callahan supposedly looks ready to go. At the very least, I'm hoping that Bishop will be able to carry us through this first series no matter what. We have a distinct goalie advantage (as long as the D doesn't hang him out to dry).

Go Bolts!

Well ****. Vegas has the Lightning as the favorite to win the series, but what do they know? If you say zero chance, as in no chance whatsoever, let's just forget this mess and go home.

It certainly was a good game. I wish I had been there. That thing had the intensity of a game 7.

Yep. Definitely intense. All our points came from the same line of Killorn (1 goal), Johnson & Kucherov (2 goals). Johnson didn't score, but he was credited with 2 assists, including the game winner by Killorn.

So, being out here in the DFW area, I don't get many games. I know the Florida Panthers are a good team, but who do we match up better assuming we win the series against Red Wing, Panthers or Islanders? We could possibly have Stammer after this series is over if his vascular surgery is healing well.

Considering we only won 1 of 5 games from the Panthers this season, I'd say we better hope we draw the Islanders if we move on past Detroit. We only won 1 of 3 vs the Islanders though. Seems the Lightning would be the dogs in either match up.

I love the way they are looking right now. Both speed and the physicality that we usually don't display. They're laying some wood out there.

Hard to shoot the puck when you don't have it. The Bolts got 100% manhandled last night.

It was Mrazek's third career Stanley Cup Playoff shutout, all of them coming against the Lightning

Mrazek will start as a goalie for the rest of series

Game 3 was a joke. The Lightning played hesitant, but even if they were on their game, no way was the refs/NHL going to let Detroit fall behind 3-0. How many missed slashes did the refs miss against Detroit? And how many bad calls were made against TB? And these weren't 50/50 calls or no-calls — they were obvious.

The NBA gets a lot of grief for refs having an input, but the NHL can be just as bad at times. Game 3 reminded me a lot of the 1st round series vs. Montreal two years ago; just awful, one-sided officiating that was painfully obvious.

If Bolts can win tonight, series is over. Not sure why it matters though because even if we win this series, we're not doing anything in round 2. Stamkos injury really hurts.

Seriously? I admittedly don't know much about Ottawa, but we could easily take Montreal.

It'd be nice if we could close out this series Thursday in 5 games — that's obviously first and foremost b/c this series isn't quite over. Wouldn't surprise me to see the refs call game 5 the way they did game 3. If we do close out the Wings, it'd be nice if Florida and NYI beat each other up in a 7-game series with the Islanders winning. Then, I'd give us a decent chance in the 2nd.

In case anyone was wondering for possible future matchups since that's already been butchered (lol Kress) — we were awful against the Panthers this season, I think we went 1-4 vs. Florida. And we went 1-2 against the Islanders. Looking way down the road, we lost all 3 vs Washington, we won all 3 vs the Penguins and we were 1-2 vs the Rangers.
