It's cool that the same organization that has a problem with Gurriel has no problem with the Cleveland logo.

What a freaking game. Crazy to think the result would've been different if MLB invoked a suspension

You didn't think Stanton was going to finish that contract as a Marlin, did you?

I didn't really think he'd make it to the contract as a Marlin in the first place, so once it was signed.. anything I thought was out the window.

From there, I could really only hope. I really hoped he'd at least make it to his opt out. With that said, if Jorge Mas bought the team(or even Loria not selling the team). I doubt he'd be in a situation where he's being traded after winning the MVP.

Even while he has a tendency to strike out a lot, any return we will receive back is going to be straight up robbery. sucks.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I disagree with the highlighted part. Stanton had a great season, but prior to his MVP campaign, he had 100 RBIs in one other season. He's a career .268 hitter, not impressive at all. His OBP has never been in the .400s in any season. He's also a guy that tends to miss at least 40+ games every other season.

IMO, if he is traded this offseason, Marlins would get over-compensation for a player that, IMO, will never have a season like this again. This season was the exception, not the norm for Stanton. MIA can lose with him (as they have for 8 years), but trading a player who is "in his prime", coming off an MVP season, IMO, in this situation is not a bad idea.

Hi, Bucs fans! :) Close to being official. Bleacher Report com reports Miami Marlins will trade Giancarlo Stanton, and his $250 million salary, to the S.F. Giants, for Joe Panic, and two of the Giants top prospects.

Sad if true. I really hope you've checked your sources on this one, Plinko. I simply respect Stanton too much as one of the better players in the game to not care what happens to him. God knows Rays fans get to see every year what he is capable of. I look at this and all I can say is "This is why we can't have nice things"

I hope the Marlins get that **** return for him. Not because they're a division rival, but because in his short time there Derek Jeter has shown himself to be an enormous ****ing ***hole. Burn the whole franchise to the ground.

Hi, Bucs fans! :) Reportedly a "done deal," and very close to be Official, this weekend before the Winter Meetings.

On December 9, 2015, the Chicago Cubs traded Starlin Castro to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later and Adam Warren.

On December 9, 2017, the New York Yankees traded Starlin Castro, and his $23.7 million, one-year contract, and three minor leaguers, to the Miami Marlins for Giancarlo Stanton, and his $295 million, 10-year contract. ;)

Now Stanton to the Yankees. To bat next to Judge. That's just silly.

Jeter is making a run at being the worst "owner" in history. He's off to a good start.

He's slid into the spot between Harry Frazee (#1) and Jeffrey Loria (#3)

Stanton doesn't draw fans and they can't win with him. Why not try something else if this model is proven not to work?

I said this earlier in the thread; last season was the exception, not the rule with Stanton

The MVP does not draw fans. And you cannot win with the MVP. Interesting.

MLB needs a salary floor. With one, Jeter wouldn't be able to gut the team. You know what else they need? Maybe not give a team to someone who 1) cannot afford the team to begin with and 2) cannot afford the team's payroll when they take it over.

Do you think that my statement is false? My point that Stanton is wasting away on the fish.... both his career and the franchise for the money they spent on him. They haven't had a winning record since 2009 which was before he was even on the team.
Starting in 2017 and working backwards, they're attendance has been 28, 27, 28, 27, 29, 18, 28, 28. So, outside their first year in the new ballpark, they do not draw. I highly doubt that changes even if he stays in miami

Starlin Castro and a Class A scrub are definitely going to pack the seats. 27th place here we come!
