Really surprised to see Archer start this way. I was saying a couple weeks ago that I thought he would be a Cy Young candidate. Not so sure about that anymore.

Btw, Baltimore looks really strong this year. They look like the Orioles team from two years ago whose offense was tough to stop. I think the AL East has turned around and the Blue Jays-Orioles have taken the spots of the Yankees-Red Sox and vice versa. Still not sure what to make of the Rays. I predicted .500 at the beginning of the year and I still pretty much feel the same way.

God Damn the Rays are starting this year playing like horseshit. I didn't expect a playoff team(really, I had no expectations at all), but I didn't expect to see the Devil Rays again.

Per the Rays Facebook page ..

The ‪#‎Rays‬ have lost just one season series vs. the Red Sox since 2008, going 78-69 vs. Boston in that span. ‪#‎RaysUp

Jesus, what is wrong with Archer? He needs to get his schniz together. Word is he's been partying a bit too much. Wonder if that's affecting him. Last thing we need is him to get Johnny Manziel syndrome.

Not a good day for the Rays. The Tigers are running away with it and KK has multiple fractures. This really sucks because I'm not so sure that we weren't starting to get it together.

Rays are 3-14 in their last 17 games. Looks like the bottom has finally fallen out.

And our immediate future is pretty bleak as our farm system pretty much sucks at the top. Most of our "top" prospects are young and won't be through the system for a few years.

None of this will matter for a couple of reasons:

-The stadium/team is in Florida and there is just so much other stuff to do
-Winning cures everything...and for the foreseeable future, the Rays have several incurable diseases

They showed a shot of Longoria last night after he tripled and then three straight Rays players struck out and failed to bring him in, and he had that "Get me the f*** off this team" look. For Longoria's sake, I kinda hope they do deal him. He's 30 and he's playing hard, and I'd like to see him go to a team who actually gives a ****.

And by the way, I know not all of this is Matt Silverman's fault...some of these terrible deals were also made by Friedman that has set up this joke of a team...but Steven Souza, Jr. is all on Silverman. While Wil Myers is going to All-Star games, Steven Souza, Jr. is lollygagging around the bases, dropping fly balls and constantly striking out. Steven Souza....you suck.

Officials on Tuesday released 10 potential sites for a new major league baseball stadium.

Rays have played at same location since 1998
Largest proposed site is 135 acres
Bay News 9 reporter Cait McVey has more later today
County Administrator Mark Woodard was scheduled to brief Pinellas County commissioners at a 2 p.m. meeting.

The Tampa Bay Rays have played at Tropicana Field since their expansion debut in 1998.

The proposed sites include a 135-acre location on Gandy Boulevard North along with a pair of 20-acre sites -- the former Sunshine Speedway site in Pinellas Park and a location at the corner of U.S. 19 N and Bellair Road.

The team's current location on Tropicana Drive was also listed among the 10 choices.

County officials hope to keep the team on the Pinellas side of the bay.

The other proposed locations are:

- The southwest corner of 118th Avenue North and 49th Street in Pinellas Park
- The 3500 block of 126th Avenue
- The 13000 block of Stonybrook Drive
- The southwest corner of U.S. Highway 19 North and Belleair Road
- The 19000 block of U.S. Highway 19 North
- Forest Lake Boulevard South and Race Track Road (Oldsmar)

Officials broke down the 10 proposed locations by businesses and employees in the area, median income and the drive time to each site.

Bay News 9 reporter Cait McVey will have updates later today on-air and online.

It was a horribly shortsighted move to trade Myers. He was really the last shot we had at hopefully making a good 1-2 punch that could produce. As it stands right now I think the Rays at their VERY best with EVERYONE playing well are a wild card play in that losses 3-2 in the ALDS. What kind of future is that? Joyce, Bartlett, Pena, Upton, Crawford Zobrist, Price, Shields, Davis, Hellickson, Maddon. They're all gone minus Longoria. THAT was the Rays. That WAS the core. What the hell are we really playing for right now?

You can tough out a bad 2016 and try to contend next year. That's perfectly fine if that's what you want to do. But it's just not worth it anymore. Just blow the damn thing up. There's an even bigger problem ahead of that too. Our current core of guys like KK, Archer, Moore, Cobb etc. they're all in their mid to upper 20's right now. By the time this team gets competitive again after a rebuild they'll not only be nearly 30 they'll be out of team control with their contracts.

We've been drafting so poorly since we started making the playoffs that we've dug ourselves a hole that's gonna take us back to the Devil Rays years. And I'll be honest, Navy. I would rather live through that again than to watch us play rent-an-infielder-for-a-year to try to force a 85 win team.

Rays traded Matt Moore, Guyer and Pearce....among others.

SMH. They at least have better gotten a good haul for Moore. I know he's not the phenom everyone thought but he's still young with a good contract.

Saw a special this morning on that. I really hope it was worth it for Bill Foster and the city of St. Pete to spend 4 years cockblocking the entire process when so many of these proposed sites are in Pinellas after FINALLY being given a chance to look in Hillsborough as well.

It bothers me to no end that with even a LITTLE bit of cooperation we could have had a new ballpark by now or being built. At worst the Rays would likely be wrapping up the final political details on how to pay for it and we would have a definitive timeline.
