That's pretty cool though in all seriousness. I had a lot of fun watching Ireland make it out of group stage in the 2016 Euro for the same reason..

Yeah my whole family is from Eastern Europe. The rest are Ukrainian and Slovenian. I tend to root for all those old Soviet bloc teams.

If Salah is healthy and playing, which it is being reported that he will be, there is a decent chance Egypt sneaks out of the group. Going purely by talent Uruguay should win the group, but Russia and Egypt are relatively close in terms of talent. Salah, if he is still playing like he did all year for Liverpool, could end up scoring 9 goals alone against Saudi Arabia. Egypt also has other guys who aren't as well known but are pretty good players in pretty good leagues like my boy Elneny at Arsenal. He's a solid CM who is a little more on the defensive side. Elmohamady who I think is still at Hull has played in the EPL and Championship. I'm sure there are some I'm missing as well.

Rambling aside, it all comes down to how Egypt plays Russia. If they draw they've got a decent chance if they can not get destroyed by Uruguay and at least match Russia's goal differential against Saudi Arabia.

You obviously follow WC way more than I do. Thanks for the review. Makes me want to actually watch them play now.

What the hell was Spain thinking with that wall setup and keeper position? Half the world could have netted that?!?!?!?

It didn't affect them much. Pique made that fatal error for that foul on the edge of the box resulting in Ronaldo's equalizer. The keeper also made an howler, but, Spain looked good and didn't seem they were affected by the coaching change.

Pique is a brain dead dipshit, but at the end of the day he goes home and has sex with Shakira.

I watched a few more replays. The wall wasn’t in a bad spot, maybe they could have added one more guy on the edge.... and neither was DeGea in a bad spot. It was a perfect kick.

Attacking play is much more resilient to coaching changes than defensive play. Attackers will do their thing if they're comfortable with each other in spite of the formation. For a defender, if they go from training in one shape for 12 months and suddenly they're playing a slightly different shape with slightly different responsibilities, they are going to have a bad couple of games.

I would know, played defensive mid most of any position in my soccer playing days.

In your opinion. I don't let a weekend dictate that for me. Messi is more consistent, level headed, and well rounded.

Actually Messi And Neymar are close at 2nd best in the world I would say Messi is better than Neymar tho.

Ronaldo and Messi have both won the balloon D’or trophy 5 times so it’s not like this is the first weekend Ronaldo has scored a goal

Completely disagree.

The casual reference earlier was a joking slight at Bootz.

Messi and CR7 have been neck and neck in all stats the past 2 years minus assist (which Messi leads). Messi is 3 years younger, is a better overall player, better team player, and it's obviously debatable who is the better offensive player as half the soccer world thinks Messi is and half thinks it's CR7. Their stats are almost identical. They are the two best players in the world, it just depends who you put 1a vs 1b.
