Embedding Articles on this BB

Postby acmillis » Fri Jun 15, 2018 10:03 am

When I post an article on this board I either paste the link url or copy and paste the actual text. I've noticed some of you fine folks have the article text in one of the "reply with quote" looking boxes...how do I do that?

Example: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2379 ... -extension

Instead of that ^^^, how do I make the text appear?

HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans have signed inside linebacker Benardrick McKinney to a five-year, $50 million contract extension, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.

The deal includes $21 million guaranteed, the source said.

Like this?

Texans LB McKinney signs extension

If so, all you do is insert an "=" (equal sign) after the "URL" but before the closing bracket in the initial [url]. So it looks like this; [url=http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/23795982/houston-texans-lock-ilb-benardrick-mckinney-50m-extension]

Then you type in whatever text between the brackets.

Quote this post to see for yourself.

Highlight the info on the article page. Right click, copy.

Come to BZ, click the quote box in the tool bar above the posting box

[ quote ][ /quote ]

^ That will pop up (minus the spaces). Right click in the space in the middle, paste.

All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard wants out of San Antonio, league sources told ESPN.

Seven best Kawhi Leonard trades we'd like to see
All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard reportedly wants out of San Antonio. Our NBA Insiders give seven deals that work.

Leonard, according to sources, has grown frustrated with how the organization handled his quad injury and feels the franchise turned on him once he sought a second opinion.

Leonard has Los Angeles -- preferably the Lakers -- at the center of his preferences for a trade destination, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

There's a feeling of betrayal that, at this juncture, appears irreparable; Leonard isn't concerned about missing out on the supermax, sources said.

Leonard would be eligible to receive a five-year, $219 million contract extension from the Spurs this summer. He can opt out of his current deal after next season and become a free agent in July 2019.

Leonard has communicated with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich in recent days, sources say, but the two have yet to speak in person.

It looks like you quoted my post, then pasted the article inside of the post quote.

Sometimes I do both what Dread showed you and what NYBF showed you.

Like this...

Source: Texans lock up ILB Benardrick McKinney with $50M extension

Sarah Barshop
ESPN Staff Writer

This way, I not only quote an article, but I provide a clickable link to the article's source.

Like Dread said, just click on the quote button like you're going to quote this post and you can see the syntax needed to do the above.

Ok since we are asking questions ... how when you post a link to a website do you actually put clickable text to replace the www address?
